About the School of Population Health Established in 2022, the School of Population Health (SPH) builds on existing strengths at RCSI in behavioural science for population health, analytic and population health sciences.
The School comprises the Department of Public Health and Epidemiology, Department of Health Psychology, Data Science Centre, Healthcare Outcomes Research Centre (HORC), Institute of Global Surgery and SPHeRE (Structured Population health, Policy and Health Services Research Education - national doctoral programme).
It included some 75 academic, research and professional staff, as well as 28 PhD scholars.
Population health scientists and researchers at RCSI have an impressive, multi-year track record undertaking impactful multi-disciplinary research and collaborating with an extensive network of international and national partners.
Summary of Post We have a part-time Snr Research Fellow position at RCSI suitable for a health services researcher, epidemiologist or related discipline.
The successful candidate will be employed on a Dublin North East Inner City (DNEIC) Task force funded partnership with RCSI to deliver a comprehensive Population Health Needs Assessment (PHNA) for the population of the DNEIC population.
The successful candidate will join a team including two Post-Doctoral researchers and a research administrator.
The position is based in the School of Population Health, RCSI, Dublin 2 but remote working will be considered for some of the duties.
Aim: To deliver a comprehensive Population Health Assessment for the population of the DNEIC population Specifically, the duties of the post are: Support the principal investigator in programme management, governance activities, funder reporting, strategic planning, and delivery of programme goals.
Provide supervision and support to other researchers, and undergraduate and/or postgraduate students involved in the programme.
Develop and oversee data cleaning, management, and preparation for analysis in line with best practices, including contributing to the programme's data management and archiving plans.
Lead or contribute to the write-up of research findings for publication in peer-reviewed journals and dissemination to key stakeholders.
Engage in research communication to maximise programme impact, including presenting findings to academic, policy, and clinical audiences, and supporting programme communication outputs (website, social media).
Support stakeholder engagement and Patient and Public Involvement (PPI) activities across the programme.
Perform any additional tasks as may be required Qualifications - (Essential): A PhD degree or equivalent in health services research, epidemiology, public health, psychology, sociology or related discipline.
Knowledge & Experience - (Essential): Extensive postdoctoral (or equivalent) research experience in a relevant field.
Demonstrable capacity for independent research, experience of research leadership.
Proven ability to lead or coordinate research, including supervising staff or students.
Strong quantitative analysis skills and proficiency in statistical software (e.g. R, Stata, or SAS).
Strong track record of peer-reviewed publications in journals of high quality/impact.
Experience in multi-stakeholder research, including policymakers, or the public.
Skilled at communicating complex research to diverse audiences.
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a multi-disciplinary team Excellent quantitative analysis skills in advanced methodologies, epidemiology or related area Excellent organisational, interpersonal, report writing and IT skills Knowledge & Experience - (Desirable): Project management training and experience.
