The CUH Emergency Department provides a full range of adult, paediatric, resuscitation, ambulatory, and observational medicine streams.
It is nationally designated to offer pre-hospital support with a fully equipped rapid response car and telemedicine advice for advanced paramedics, including support at sea.
Cork University Hospital is the largest statutory hospital in Ireland and the only Model 4 hospital, integrating all acute surgical and medical specialties on the same campus, including adults, paediatrics, maternity, and mental health services.
It is among the busiest Model 4 hospitals in Ireland and aims to be one of the best.
CUH serves as a regional centre for secondary and tertiary care for HSE South and provides supra-regional services across southern Ireland, covering multiple RHA areas.
At the national level, CUH is a Level 1 trauma centre, a 24/7 neurosurgical and stroke thrombectomy centre, a PPCI centre, a cardiothoracic surgical centre, and a comprehensive coagulation & haemophilia centre.
It also hosts a cystic fibrosis centre and is one of eight NCCP Cancer Centres, offering complete tumour pathways and treatments.
98% of children receive all their care at CUH.
The Cork University Hospitals Group (CUHG) includes three hospitals: Cork University Hospital Wilton, Mallow General Hospital, and Bantry General Hospital.
It is the primary teaching hospital for University College Cork, with strong academic relationships and a focus on clinical research and placements.
