Context
SYSTRA Ireland are recruiting for a Principal Consultant in the Transport Planning Team, based in our Dublin or Cork offices, to support the delivery of a diverse range of innovative sustainable transport projects across Ireland.

Missions/Main Duties
The Principal Consultant will be responsible for developing successful proposals as well as managing and delivering projects involving sustainable transport plans and strategies, network development, feasibility studies, transport appraisal, funding bids and policy & strategy development.
The role will be focused in the field of local, low carbon and sustainable transport including active travel, public transport, new mobility and decarbonisation.
Key Responsibilities:
Managing technical staff, project budgets and dealing with clients and stakeholders in project delivery.
Act as Project Manager for sustainable transport projects across Ireland.
Project manage schemes with control over project budgets and deliver effective resource planning to meet project needs.
Ensure work produced is technically accurate and delivered in accordance with the appropriate standards.
Manage the production of scheme deliverables.
Prepare technical documents, presentations and reports to a high standard.
Identify and secure new business opportunities, including supporting with the preparation of fee proposals and tender submissions to win new work.
Profile/Skills
Broad range of transport planning skills including significant experience of developing and delivering transport planning projects within the field of Sustainable and Active Travel.
Knowledge of the relevant policy context, appraisal and design guidance, and available funding streams.
Successful track record in Project Management.
The ability to form constructive, lasting relationships with clients and professional partners.
Confident in client facing roles with the ability to undertake client-facing tasks with little supervision.
Experience in developing proposals and winning new work advantageous.
Excellent report writing and presentation skills.
Excellent analytical skills to inform decision making, including spreadsheet and GIS analysis.
Experience of people and resource management to efficiently deliver projects and support skills development within the wider team.
Line management experience advantageous but not essential.
Developing Sustainable Transport and decarbonisation policies, strategies and plans (including Local Transport Plans), multi-modal network development, options appraisal, and feasibility studies for public transport, walking, cycling and placemaking schemes.
Experience of preparing and delivering engagement and consultation activities with a range of stakeholders.
Travel Survey specification development and management.
Experience of appraising transport options using both qualitative and quantitative methods to identify optimum solutions.
Management and delivery of Business Cases.
Experience of travel demand management and behaviour change initiatives, including associated marketing and communications.
