Job Description
Staff Frontend Engineer at Zendesk.
You will be a key technical leader shaping the frontend of the Zendesk AI Agents platform, building exceptional user experiences and elevating the entire team.
Your work will contribute to changing how people work in customer service and help establish the technical foundation for our next generation of products.
What You Will Be Doing
Architectural Leadership: Design and drive scalable, modular, and maintainable frontend architecture.
Set standards for the codebase, including code changes, testing, CI/CD, and deployment to ensure a solid and reliable foundation.
Mentorship and Team Enablement: Provide technical guidance and mentorship, advocate for best practices, and foster a culture of technical excellence and a testing-first mindset.
Strategic Planning: Collaborate with product managers, designers, and other technical leaders to define the long-term frontend roadmap, identifying opportunities for innovation, performance improvements, and reduced code complexity.
Hands-on Development: Maintain and develop the Zendesk AI Agents platform using TypeScript, React, and other state-of-the-art libraries.
Build user-friendly applications that help clients design conversations and automate workflows, while leading by example with clean, well-tested code.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Serve as the go-to frontend technology expert, collaborating with backend and other technical teams to ensure seamless integration and a holistic approach to building new product features.
What You Bring to the Role
Extensive experience with frontend architecture and the Web Standards, with a track record of designing and implementing complex, scalable frontend systems.
Strong technical leadership and mentoring abilities; a natural teacher who helps grow the engineering team.
Deep understanding of software engineering best practices and a commitment to quality, with a strong testing culture.
Expertise in TypeScript and React (or similar frameworks like Angular or Vue); proficient in identifying and resolving performance bottlenecks and building performant web applications.
Product-first mindset with pride in delivering elegant solutions that serve end users.
Experience with micro-frontends, server-side rendering, and large-scale infrastructure is a plus.
Clear and proactive communicator with strong English skills, adept at giving and receiving constructive feedback.
