Good quality decisions start with accurate checks, clear records and the
confidence to act when something is not right.
We are looking for a QC Technician to help ensure our products are manufactured
to the required specifications. This is a hands-on role supporting production
through water batching and testing, in-process checks, quality inspections and
the effective management of non-conforming materials.
As a QC Technician, you will work closely with Production and Engineering to
help maintain product quality throughout the manufacturing process.
Your responsibilities will range from batching and testing water to completing
start-up checks, inspecting products and making decisions based on your
findings. When a product or material does not meet the required standard, you
will take ownership of identifying, isolating and recording the issue while
supporting the investigation and follow-up.
This is a varied role where your judgement matters. Your work will help protect
product quality, maintain traceability and keep production moving safely and
effectively.
You will also contribute to continuous improvement through GMP audits, complaint
monitoring, employee training, new product development trials and pilot runs.
What You’ll Be Accountable For
* Batching water to meet production requirements and completing the necessary analytical and chemical quality testing.
* Making appropriate decisions on water usage based on testing results.
* Taking samples for microbiological analysis using aseptic techniques.
* Completing equipment calibration, start-up checks, metal-detector checks and routine quality control testing.
* Performing in-process inspections and checks to confirm that products meet the required specifications.
* Making timely product-quality decisions based on inspection and testing results.
* Identifying, isolating and recording non-conforming products or materials.
* Quarantining defective or potentially defective finished products and raw materials.
* Maintaining complete traceability for quarantined and reworked products.
* Supporting root-cause investigations and the completion of corrective and preventive actions.
* Communicating quality concerns clearly to Production, Engineering, suppliers and relevant internal teams.
* Monitoring GMP compliance and completing routine GMP, glass and Perspex audits.
* Maintaining accurate and timely quality records.
* Supporting external audits and accreditation activities.
* Training colleagues to complete production and quality checks in line with approved procedures.
* Maintaining stock levels and keeping work areas organised using 6S principles.
* Supporting quality activities across IB1, IB2, the cleanroom, packing area and water room.
* Playing an active part in new product development trials and pilot production runs.
* Following company procedures, SOPs and safe systems of work while contributing to improvements where needed. Who This Role Is For This role will suit someone who is practical, observant and comfortable making decisions based on facts. Previous experience in quality control, manufacturing or FMCG would be valuable. Internal quality training or experience will also be considered, so we encourage applications from people who have developed relevant quality knowledge within a production environment. You should bring:
* An understanding of GMP and why it matters in a manufacturing environment.
* The ability to follow SOPs and established quality procedures consistently.
* Confidence undertaking practical checks, inspections and testing.
* Good computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
* Clear written and verbal communication.
* The flexibility to work a rotating 12-hour shift pattern over a three-week cycle. Around two years’ experience in a quality function would be desirable, but it is not essential where you can demonstrate the right practical experience, judgement and ability to learn. What Will Make You Successful Here You pay attention to the details because you understand that small variations can affect product quality. You are comfortable making decisions within agreed procedures. When something falls outside those procedures, you raise it quickly and clearly rather than making assumptions. You can organise several priorities, maintain accurate records and complete checks on time without compromising quality or safety. You communicate well with people across Production, Engineering and Quality. You can explain an issue clearly, listen to operational input and work with others to reach the right outcome. You are also willing to learn new practical techniques, share your knowledge and help colleagues follow quality procedures correctly. Most importantly, you take ownership. You do not simply identify a problem. You help ensure it is isolated, recorded, communicated and followed through. Why Join WaterWipes At WaterWipes, product quality is central to the trust consumers place in our products. This role puts you close to the manufacturing process, where your checks and decisions can have an immediate and visible impact. You will gain exposure to water quality, microbiological sampling, production inspections, investigations, audits and new product trials. You will work across functions and different production areas, giving you the opportunity to develop a broad understanding of quality within a fast-moving FMCG environment. It is a strong opportunity for someone who wants to build practical quality experience and contribute to continuous improvement while remaining close to day-to-day production. Location & Practicalities This is a site-based position in Drogheda, Co. Louth. The role operates on a rotating 12-hour shift pattern over a three-week cycle. Candidates should consider whether this working arrangement suits their personal circumstances before applying. The position provides quality coverage across different production areas, including IB1, IB2, the cleanroom, packing area and water room. The specific shift times and full working pattern will be explained during the recruitment process. If you have practical manufacturing or quality experience, good attention to detail and the confidence to make evidence-based decisions, we would like to hear from you. Apply with your CV and tell us about the quality checks, production processes or manufacturing standards you have worked with. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------
