Introduction to Role:

Join us as our Head of Medical - Ireland, a senior leadership team member within our Ireland Marketing Company who plays a key role in achievement of overall company goals. You will be instrumental in setting the vision and direction for the development of the medical organization within the Marketing Company through strategic planning and in accordance with global/regional policies and strategies.

You will lead the medical organization delivering the capabilities and behaviours vital to successfully implement medical activities leading to scientific leadership and delivery of the Medical Affairs mission. Being accountable for the strategic direction, establishing defined standards of medical capability, business/resource planning and people processes as the functional head within Ireland.

You will ensure operational excellence across patient safety, medical information and regulatory and support the clinical development program for pipeline products, and also ensuring full compliance and adherence to company standards including ethical interactions and promotional standards.

Additional Accountabilities:

Supports the implementation of the overall national strategy for AstraZeneca Ireland in the Medical Affairs function Provides expert advice and support to ensure the effectiveness of the Medical Affairs Function, and carry out improvement initiatives on quality, cost and time May lead or support major projects and improvement initiatives at the area or Regional level. Oversees or leads large brand medical projects ensuring adherence to processes and regulations Carries out effective succession planning and supports the development of a talent pipeline for the Medical Affairs function Regulatory/MIPS responsibilities

Essential Skills/Experience:

Qualified Medical Doctor (human or veterinary) or PhD or experience in a scientific discipline relevant to our Therapy Areas Extensive experience of leading a Medical Affairs function within the pharmaceutical industry Experience in at least one of the following therapy areas: oncology, respiratory & immunology or cardiovascular, renal & metabolic disease Extensive experience in relationship and stakeholder management Product-Life-Cycle-Management and successful Launch-Management Project management experience Significant team management experience Budget management awareness

Desirable Skills/Experience:

Extensive knowledge of the latest technical and regulatory developments MBA Above market experience (regional, global) Knowledge of the national pharmaceutical industry and the health policy environment Experience in externally sponsored research and engaging with study groups Profound knowledge of regulatory affairs, pharmacovigilance, medical information, promotional affairs & GxP (GCP/GVP/GRP/GMP Compliance framework)
