Job Description
Project Scheduler
The Scheduler shall be responsible for supporting our clients Programme Managers and Project teams by ensuring focus on timely delivery of the portfolio of capital projects as planned, within budget and meeting their business objectives.
Schedulers must possess a good understanding of the project delivery process and timescales to effectively deliver a project. It is expected that the candidate will be educated to degree level in a project management, engineering, or construction industry discipline. Strong analytical & IT skills, particularly Excel, Primavera and MS Office Suite, including Power BI is desirable.
Job Relationships
The Scheduler will typically liaise with: Client Scheduling Leads Client Scheduling specialists Client Subject Matter Experts (schedulers, Project Managers, Risk Managers, Commercial Managers) Team Project Schedulers They may also be working alongside Project Controls, Cost and Data TeamsKey Responsibilities
Developing and maintaining project schedules and establishing a baseline. Monitoring critical path and float erosion and advising on corrective action. Establishing budgets and monitoring project costs; ensuring accurate cost forecasts and profiles, accurately assessing value of work and accruals, and ensuring costs booked to the correct codes. Forecast project resource demands and undertake resource smoothing and levelling in conjunction with work package owners. Recording & facilitating change management. Recording & challenging risk provision. Maintaining appropriate re-forecasted project baselines. Ensuring that project outputs are captured, reported, and remain accurate. Monitoring trends and forecasts and working with Regional Leads and with Project Managers or Project Controls Managers to identify conflicts and threats to Project success. Preparing summary reports to highlight project issues, risks and forthcoming milestones and actions, and prompting intervention as necessary. Supporting the Project Managers and Project Team to ensure projects are delivered on time, to budget and meet the project objectives. Ensure involvement and contribution of the whole project team Managing complex information requirements from the Delivery Teams, to allow effective management of the Capital Programme. Contribution to business success by supporting the development, implementation, and management of new business processes and systems whilst maintaining the team outputs to customers. Collaborating with and influencing the Programme Office team if applicable, projects managers, and others to ensure successful implementation of ideas and best practice. Assist Programme Managers if applicable, in planning its future projects and phases of work. Ability to design and generate multiple reporting formats and outputs independently Management of relevant Tools & Systems.
Qualifications
The Scheduler must demonstrate knowledge, behaviours and approach that are client centric, professional, and based on best-practice industry standards. Proactive ability to improve and develop written best practice material in the form of scheduling handbooks and procedures. They shall have a strong, self-policing organizational and administrative disciplines, particularly in the ability to aggregate and report multiple contract schedule updates within set deadlines. They shall need to demonstrate excellent communication skills (both verbal and written), negotiation skills and persuasiveness in their various interactions. Experience using project, contract and finance management tools, ( Primavera P6, Maximo, PCM and Oracle) They shall have good presentation skills and ability to work with contractors and consultants. Strong commercial awareness in the governance, control and performance analysis of large-scale complex and varied portfolio is required. Experience working to regulatory and project deadlines. Experience of developing and maintaining effective strategic partnerships with key stakeholders. Demonstrated leadership ability, proactive development, motivation, and engagement of teams. Driver of high standards for individual, team and organisational accomplishment and delivering desired results. They must have a 5+ year plus construction industry experience (life sciences or data centre experience is preferred but not essential) and hold a relevant university qualification. They must have 5+ years plus scheduling experience with proficiency in MS Project, Primavera P6. MS Power BI and FIDIC / bespoke major project contract experience is preferable.
