Dublin, Ireland Daft Media Limited Full time

What’s the Opportunity

We are seeking to recruit a Software QA Engineer to join one of our engineering teams. The successful candidate should have 3 to 5 years of similar experience, be up-to-date with modern testing technologies and thrive in a fun, fast paced and challenging environment.

You will have the opportunity to work with the latest technologies and help build some of the most well-known and visited websites in the country. This is more than a technical role, you will contribute to the overall product development effort and you will get to use your experience to develop our quality engineering process.

What will I be doing

QA Engineers are an essential part of the Distilled Product Delivery Teams. You’ll be part of one of our cross functional delivery teams and work closely with Product Owners, Software Engineers and like minded QA Engineers.

Here’s just some of the things you’ll work on:

  • Work closely with other QA Engineers to develop best practices and continuously improve standards, templates and documentation

  • Work with the product and delivery team in order to understand requirements and flag potential issues as early as possible in the Software Development Lifecycle

  • Act as a facilitator for the team around quality engineering, using a Shift Left approach

  • Review development pull requests, unit tests and integration tests and highlight when best practices are not followed

  • Be an advocate of quality in your team, coaching teammates, always looking for ways to improve tools and processes

  • Focus on high quality software delivery through the creation of unit, integration, contract, smoke and production tests

What skills do I need

  • 3 to 5 years experience in software development and software quality assurance

  • Experience with Agile methodologies

  • Experience with test automation tools and frameworks such as Junit, RestAssured, WebdriverIO, Cypress, Jest, Pact, Mockito and TestContainers

  • Strong manual testing experience including both exploratory and functional testing

  • Solid programming experience with Java, JavaScript/Typescript or similar

  • Excellent interpersonal, teamwork and collaboration skills

  • A passion for technology and a hunger to adopt new industry trends

Advantage if you have

  • Experience in lower layer testing such as Unit testing, Contract testing and API testing

  • Experience with CI/CD processes and tools such as Jenkins or GitHub Actions

  • Experience working with Microservices environments
