Temporary Basic Grade Pharmacist

The post holder will report to the Chief Pharmacist or his/her designated person as appropriate.
Responsibilities - The post holder will be responsible for;
- The supervision and supply of drugs, pharmaceutical and other related items as may be required.
- Dispensary: routinely work in and supervise dispensary related activities.
- Participate in the Saturday dispensary service.
Clinical areas: either provide or be available to provide clinical pharmacy services including but not limited to:
Cancer services
Care of the Elderly
Emergency Department
ICU
Medical
Mental Health and
Surgical
- Medication Safety: further develop medication safety systems and routinely participate and contribute to medication safety responsibilities and initiatives.
- Medicines Reconciliation: Routinely carry out medicines reconciliation and further expand and develop medicine reconciliation services.
- Medicines information: provide comprehensive and high quality medicines information services as part of clinical area, dispensary or other duties.
- Rotate into pharmacy cancer services on a routine and ad hoc basis and
- The post holder must maintain throughout the hospital, an awareness of the primacy of the patient in relation to all hospital activities.
- The post holder must demonstrate behaviour consistent with the values of the MUH.
- They will participate in the pharmaceutical service as part of a professional, punctual and dedicated team.
- They will help to create, promote and maintain open communications and healthy working relationships.
- The post holder will maintain the principles of equity, accountability and quality of service in daily work.
- The post holder agrees to liaise with the Pharmacy Manager on matters concerning departmental procedures and on matters concerning safety, security, complaints concerning the service and unusual occurrences or conditions relating to drugs, drug requests, usage and their security in the hospital.
Eligibility Criteria
(a) Be a registered Pharmacist with the Pharmaceutical Society of Ireland (PSI) or entitled to be so registered.
(b) Possess the requisite knowledge and ability (including a high standard of suitability) For the proper discharge of the duties of the office.
If you are the holder of a non-Irish qualification, please note that in order to be appointed to a post within the Mercy University Hospital, your qualifications must be verified by The Pharmaceutical Society of Ireland, 18 Shrewsbury Road, Dublin 4.
