Role Overview:

As the Head Chef, you will be fully accountable for all aspects of kitchen operations, ensuring the efficient production and presentation of meals while meeting all regulatory and HACCP standards.

This includes managing the purchase, storage, and handling of all food, as well as the adherence to our company's food safety and hygiene policies.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and manage all aspects of kitchen operations, including food preparation, menu planning, and kitchen audits.
  • Ensure compliance with HACCP and legal standards, maintaining up-to-date records and conducting regular internal audits.
  • Lead, train, and monitor the kitchen team to ensure food is produced and presented to Haven Bay standards, meeting all HSE & HIQA regulations.
  • Manage purchasing, receiving, storage, and issuance of food items following Haven Bay's purchasing policies.
  • Develop and maintain high standards of food quality, presentation, and portion control, while minimizing waste.
  • Create and cost menus to optimize revenues and meet dietary requirements, consulting with residents to ensure satisfaction.
  • Conduct stock checks, monitor kitchen equipment, and report any maintenance needs.
  • Develop and manage kitchen rosters to ensure adequate coverage, particularly during events and holidays.
  • Support staff in maintaining high levels of hygiene, appearance, and professionalism.
  • Conduct regular performance appraisals, coaching and developing staff to help them reach their potential.
  • Ensure all kitchen waste is minimized and disposed of in compliance with company policy.
  • Collaborate with management to ensure a safe, efficient, and welcoming environment for staff, residents, and visitors.


Candidate Requirements:

  • Proven experience in kitchen management, preferably in a healthcare or hospitality environment.
  • Knowledge of HACCP and food safety regulations.
  • Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to manage inventory, budgets, and staff schedules.
  • Strong leadership and training skills to support the professional development of the kitchen team.
  • Commitment to maintaining a high standard of service and resident satisfaction.
