Planning and Resources is a key function within the Operations division with a focus on three essential activities: long- and short-term planning, a centralised rostering operation and daily management of all operational facilities and resources. 
 
Reporting to the Head of Planning and Resources, a vacancy now exists for the role of Operations Manager. Working as a key member of the Planning and Resources team across all RTÉ platforms including TV and Radio, this role has a 7 day a week, 365 day a year liability.

The main responsibilities of the position are: Day-to-day management of studio activities and the production schedule. This includes trouble-shooting and decision making on all aspects of studio production, managing absences, dealing with changes to the schedule, health & safety reporting, the production and publication of a daily studio production log and validating and approving timesheets for all operational staff Creating efficient rosters for operational staff. This includes resource planning in tandem with the Planning and Resources team and relevant line managers and supervisors, managing planning and rostering systems and regular use of ERP systems, providing, tracking and presenting data, metrics and reports to the Planning and Resources team and to other relevant areas Long and short-term planning for all operational areas. This includes forward planning with content teams (both internal and external), quarterly, monthly and weekly schedule meetings, building programme quotations and schedules within the planning system, liaising with all operational areas and finance to capture requirements, hosting production planning meetings and keeping the planning portal up-to-date with meeting minutes and programme plans Developing and implementing an environment of accountability, efficiency, transparency, and continuous improvement The successful applicant will demonstrate that they can work on their own initiative and as part of a team. She / He will be highly motivated and will possess the following: An excellent understanding of production processes across all RTÉ operations Strong organisational and communication skills An excellent understanding of Health and Safety protocols An excellent understanding of studio production protocols and work agreements and practices Strong problem-solving capacity and experience tackling issues on a daily basis An ability to work in a pressurised live environment Proven leadership, supervisory experience or deputising in a management position A keen analytical approach to data collection and reporting Good administrative capabilities and familiarity with the Microsoft Office suite and all relevant RTÉ internal systems A keen interest and desire to build a best-practice production environment with an ability to recognise opportunities to improve efficiency while maintaining quality A positive mindset with excellent inter-personal skills
