About the role


We are looking for a UX Designer who will play a pivotal role in shaping the educational experience for a diverse range of learners. You will have the ability to bring a single voice and experience across all aspects of the learner journey.  Our culture is based on Innovation, Accountability, Trust, Resilience, and Collaboration. You will have the ability bring a single voice and experience across all aspects of the learner journey including the content design, delivery, tooling and supports.  You will have experience of UX research to know and understand the needs, preferences, and behaviors of the learners and educators who use our products. 


Your UX design experience will help you collaborate with product management,  students, instructional designers and other stakeholders to define the problem, scope, and goals of each project. 


You will have experience in evaluating the impact of your product design. In our case, you will apply these skills to evaluate impact on the learners and educators. You will use your experience of analytics, surveys, interviews, observations, and experiments, to measure and evaluate user satisfaction, engagement, learning outcomes, and behavior change.


You will be a skilled communicator, have the ability to empathise with all key stakeholders and apply sound analytical and critical thinking to drive a great experience.


Responsibilities & Tasks


  • Research and Analysis: 
  • Conduct thorough user research and analysis to understand the needs, motivations, and behaviors of students , partners and educators. Develop user personas and journey maps to guide design decisions.
  • UX Design Strategy: 
  • Develop a cohesive UX strategy that aligns with educational goals and business objectives. Ensure consistency in user experience across various platforms and touchpoints in the student journey, from initial engagement to ongoing use.
  • Interface and Interaction Design: 
  • Design intuitive and engaging interfaces for web and mobile applications. Focus on simplifying complex educational processes into user-friendly experiences. Create wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity designs
  • Usability Testing and Validation: 
  • Plan and conduct usability tests, gather feedback, and iterate designs based on user data. Ensure the final product meets high standards of usability and accessibility.
  • Innovation and Advocacy: 
  • Stay abreast of the latest trends in EdTech and UX design. 
  • Advocate for user-centered design principles and foster a culture of innovation within the team.
  • Metrics and Analysis: 
  • Utilize analytics tools to measure user engagement and satisfaction. 
  • Continuously refine and optimize the user experience based on quantitative and qualitative data.
  • Collaboration and Leadership:
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including product managers, developers, content creators, curriculum designers and educational experts. Lead UX design projects, providing guidance and mentorship to junior designers.


Qualifications & Experience


  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in UX Design, Human-Computer Interaction, or a related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in UX design, preferably in the EdTech industry.
  • Strong portfolio showcasing UX design work, with a focus on educational platforms or applications.
  • Proficiency in design tools (e.g., Sketch, Adobe XD, Figma) and knowledge of HTML/CSS.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.


What success looks like


User Satisfaction and Engagement: One of the primary indicators of success is the level of user satisfaction and engagement with the designed products. This includes positive user feedback, high usability scores, increased student engagement, an increase in on-track students, a reduction in student stress and a low rate of user drop-offs or complaints. 


Achievement of Design Goals: Success is also measured by how well the design meets its intended goals. This could include improved learning outcomes in an educational context, increased student retention, or successful implementation of specific features that enhance the user experience.


Collaboration and Influence: Success also encompasses the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams, influence product strategy, and mentor junior designers. The capacity to foster a user-centered design culture within the organization and to advocate for UX best practices is crucial

Innovation and Problem Solving: The ability to innovate and solve complex problems creatively is a key measure of success. This involves staying abreast of the latest trends in UX design and EdTech, and applying this knowledge to create solutions that are both cutting-edge and practical.


Project Management and Leadership: Successful management of projects from conception to delivery, meeting deadlines and staying within budget, while maintaining high-quality standards, is a critical success factor. Leadership skills are also important, particularly in guiding and inspiring the design team.


Business Impact: Beyond the user experience, the impact on business metrics is also a measure of success. This includes contribution to increased revenue, cost savings, market share growth, or brand enhancement.
