The post holder will reports to the Clinical Nurse Manager 3 and is accountable to the Director of Nursing
Responsibilities - The post holder will be responsible for;
- Establish and maintain caring and therapeutic interpersonal relationships with individuals, clients, groups and communities
- Ensure confidentiality on all clinical and non clinical information.
- Provide a high standard of professional and clinical leadership in all aspects of nursing care
- Act as a positive and accountable role model in providing direct patient care
- Develop leadership skills to create a suitable environment and effective team working
- Ensure new members to the clinical area are made feel welcome and a have adequate support
- Seek help and advice from the Clinical Nurse Manager 3 as appropriate.
- Maintain a high standard of professional behaviour and be professionally accountable for actions/omissions. Take measures to develop and maintain the competences required for professional practice
- Adhere to the Nursing & Midwifery values of Care, Compassion and Commitment (DoH, 2016)
- Adhere to national, regional and local HSE PPPGs
- Adhere to relevant legislation and regulation.
- Ensure that modern standards of clinical nursing care are in operation and that regular monitoring of Nursing and para- nursing care is undertaken through audit
- Use the outcomes of audit to develop action plans and support their implementation
- Educate all nursing and para-nursing staff including orientation of new staff to develop excellent work practises
- Foster a culture of audit and action based outcomes
- The extent to which there is patient satisfaction with nursing /Para nursing care.
- The extent to which good working relationships are fostered and maintained throughout the nursing service and between nursing and other disciplines.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Be registered in the General Division of the Register of Nurses kept by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland {NMBI}
- Provide evidence of clinical and professional managerial ability, leadership, communication and organisational skills.
- Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrate evidence of continuing professional development
- Critical care qualification desirable or willingness to undertake same once in post
- Candidates must have three years post registration experience, of which one year must be in the specialist area.
