Vascular Division Clonmel

You will foster employee wellness on site and promote a culture of continuous improvement. The role will require you to assist and facilitate the maintenance of an effective Occupational Health management system that complies with legislative requirements, Abbott technical and management standards & GOHS requirements. As an Occupational Health Nurse, you will provide for and deliver health care to employees with a focus on achieving quality care and wellbeing.
Main Responsibilities:
Provide the company with an on site Occupational health service, efficient first aid service and an emergency treatment service
Complete gap assessments of the EHS management system and workplace environment to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and Abbott technical and management system standards.
Provide, review and maintain all EHS procedures and programmes to align with Abbott standards, GOHS requirements, HSA guidance
Leverage technical expertise to collaborate with functional support teams providing advice and consultation on all elements of the OH management system
Maintain standard work activities in line with the EHS calendar
Lead initiatives related to internal business excellence programmes including internal assessments, CI and 5s
Leads EHS projects using problem solving tools to ensure continuous legal compliance and benefits to the company.
Monitor all EHS KPIs and provide support, advice and expertise to continually improve such performance areas.
Correspond with third parties including Corporate team & contractors, providing for professional reporting and timely submissions related to site updates when required. Lead any site inspections as required
Conduct pre-employment medicals, health surveillance and employee consultations. Liaise with Occupational Health Physician and internal / external stakeholders as required. Identifies client goals, objectives and action in a comprehensive case management
Conduct absenteeism reviews, following up with employees and Managers and ensuring timely referrals to the Company doctor as necessary. Review Company doctor recommendations with direct Manager and HR and draft follow up action plan accordingly. Support implementation of programme improvements as necessary. plan and implements interventions to achieve desired outcomes within designated time frames
Advise and guide employees on work related issues where appropriate.
Organize positive health awareness and initiatives through education and health awareness programmes
Act as company representative for employees Health Insurance Scheme with regard to health and well being initiatives, mini medicals, annual flu vaccinations etc.
Utilise key elements of the EHS strategy to define the annual EHS goals and objectives, manage quarterly assessments of such goals and drive necessary actions
Experience and Qualifications :
Minimum Level 7 in a relevant discipline and 2+ years of related work experience, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
Working knowledge and application of business concepts, procedures and practices. Will perform this job in a quality system environment. Failure to adequately perform tasks can result in noncompliance with governmental regulations.
Works on problems of moderate scope where analysis of situations or data requires a review of identifiable factors. Exercises judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action. Has a general knowledge of technical alternatives and an understanding of their impact on the systems environment
Cultivates a wide range of internal networks and begins to develop an external network of resources to facilitate completion of tasks. May demonstrate basic project management skills by acting as a project lead on small, well defined projects. Provides guidance to less experienced staff. Influence exerted at peer level and occasionally at first levels of management.
Plans, organises, and prioritises own daily work routine to meet established schedule.
Exercises authority and judgment within defined limits to determine appropriate action. Failure to achieve results or erroneous decisions or recommendations may cause delays and may result in the allocation of additional resources.
May provide limited work direction and guidance to exempt and/or skilled non-exempt levels of employees; may be asked to evaluate performance of and assist in career development planning for subordinates.
