Contract type: Specific Purpose Fixed term 9 months (covering Maternity Leave ideally starting in November 2024)
Hours per week: Part time, 2 or 3 days per week

About the ICGP
The Irish College of GPs (referred to as the College) is the postgraduate medical training body (PGTB) responsible for postgraduate education, training and research in the medical specialty of General Practice. The College has a national advisory role in relation to medical standards and engages with the Medical Council, Department of Health and Children, the Health Service Executive and the Health Information & Quality Authority among others. As a membership organisation, the ICGP is responsible for providing and supporting the continuous professional development for general practitioners, numbering over 4,000. The ICGP is the PGTB accredited by the Medical Council to provide professional training for doctors wishing to enter the specialty of General Practice.
Job Purpose
This role is to provide maternity leave cover for the Trainee Health and Wellbeing Manager for GP Training commencing on November 2024.
The roles plays a pivotal part in ensuring the holistic health and wellbeing of approximately 1,100 GP trainees (growing to 1,400 by 2027) in the GP training programme. During this temporary cover, the role will focus on coordinating various health promotion activities, facilitating access to resources and services, and supporting trainees in managing their overall health and wellbeing journey.
Key Responsibilities
1. Signposting and Support: Provide trainees and schemes with comprehensive information on accessing various WIDE-related support services. Act as a point of contact for guidance and resources.
2. Policy Development: Collaborate with relevant stakeholders to progress and develop policies and guidance in line with best practices, legislation, and key directives related to trainee wellbeing, inclusion, diversity, and equity.
3. Oversight of Current Processes: Manage and support existing WIDE processes, such as Occupational Health referrals, to ensure they are accessible and effective for trainees.
4. Implementation of New Initiatives: Develop or support new initiatives indicated in the Trainee WIDE Strategy, such as a national trainee buddy system and standardized personal development programme across all training scheme.
5. Communication and Engagement: Maintain and develop trainee communication channels, including newsletters, webpage updates, and scheme visits, to keep trainees informed and engaged in WIDE.
6. Organising Webinars and Events: Plan and execute wellbeing-related webinars and events focused on key areas like parenting, neurodiversity, and other trainee needs.
7. Monitoring and Evaluation: Track key performance indicators (KPIs), such as post-intervention surveys, to measure the impact of programs on trainee awareness, knowledge, and satisfaction. Use feedback to drive continuous improvement while providing reports and updates to management.
Personal Specification
The ideal candidate will have the following knowledge, skills, expertise, and competencies:
Qualifications & experience
A relevant third level qualification, or equivalent in subjects such as psychology, public health promotion, human resources, or a related field. Certification in coaching, employee assistance programs, or related areas would be desirable.
A proven track record of at least five years' experience developing and implementing wellbeing programmes in a corporate setting.
Proven understanding of mental health principles, stress management techniques, and wellbeing best practices in diverse workplaces.
Knowledge of and relevant experience in a postgraduate education/training environment an advantage.
Proven knowledge of wellbeing principles and strategies for promoting work life balance.
Technical competencies
Must have a proven high level of ICT skills, including MS Office suite, with capacity to maximise technology to increase efficiency.
Knowledge of data analysis techniques and proficiency in using technology for program evaluation and reporting.
Behavioral competencies
Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, including listening skills and empathy.
Strong interpersonal skills, proven ability to build rapport with diverse individuals and inspire trust and confidence.
Demonstrated ability to provide mentorship and support to individuals facing academic or personal challenges.
Knowledge of wellbeing principles and strategies for promoting work life balance
