What is the opportunity?

The role offers the opportunity to work in an exciting and growing area within Bank of Ireland and the wider financial service sector. Operational Resilience is defined as the ability of a firm, and the financial services sector as a whole, to identify and prepare for, respond and adapt to, recover and learn from an operational disruption.

As a part of the Bank of Ireland Group Resilience and Continuity team the Head of Operational Resilience Governance will have responsibility for a number of key deliverables which aim to enhance the banks overall Operational Resilience.

The role also offers an excellent opportunity to gain exposure and experience of Operational Resilience while working with senior leaders across the bank.

In this role you will
  • Lead a team of Operational Resilience Managers to who will assist in developing and improving the effectiveness of the Banks Operational resilience capabilities.
  • Provide the required leadership and direction needed to transition Operational Resilience activities from a programme into a continually improving business as usual operating model.
  • Support and advise on the Group Operational Resilience strategy, ensuring the establishment of good governance where necessary.
  • Lead a team who Help Set the standards and approach for Operational resilience including technical guidance
  • Lead a team to develop and report Management reporting for Operational resilience including to executive and board level.
  • Ensure the Groups Operational Resilience Operations are compliant with all external regulatory and internal policy requirements.
  • Liaise with multiple senior partners to influence and improve operational resilience for the Group
  • Provide Education and training for key partners
What will make you stand out?

Operational Resilience is a relatively new concept which brings together Business Continuity, Crisis Management and Resilience Management among other disciplines.

Significant experience as an Operational Resilience specialist in a similar capacity, preferable in the financial sector or similar field will make you stand out

Experience in implementation of relevant Operational Resilience regulation and guidelines with strong governance background particularly with reporting, policy, methodologies and procedures will give you a distinct advantage.

Confident, articulate and independent minded approach. Ability to deal with both the 'big picture' and the finer detail.

Strong People Management Skills and a confident communicator with the ability handle a very broad and diverse agenda with continuous challenging deadlines.

A proven track record of independently leading a team of colleagues to deliver on multiple activities, and the experience to develop and influence.

Ability to provide intellectual rigour to assessments, development of business solutions and decision making within Operational resilience.

Ability to understand, identify and pragmatically influence the risk based approach to mitigation and monitoring.

More about the team

The role is based in Group Resilience and Continuity who form part of the Payments and BCM business function within the Group Technology and Customer Solutions division.

The team is a first line Centre of Excellence who with the support of the wider business in continually improving the Operational Resilience capability of the Bank of Ireland Group. We are responsible for developing and setting a comprehensive vision and approach for Operational Resilience, which are then delivered through frameworks, policies, methodologies, management tools and the provision of sound advice.

This is a hybrid role and can be done anywhere in the Republic of Ireland with the primary office location as Dublin. Travel will be required for in person collaboration, exact frequency to be agreed with manager.#LI-HYBRID #IJ-HYBRID
