 The Role:

 We are looking for a highly organised, energetic, enthusiastic leader who strives to work in a fast-paced, highly dynamic global environment. The Head of PMO will assume a leadership role in orchestrating the execution of critical programs, ensuring alignment with Cubic’s road map. The Head of PMO will spearhead and enable cross-functional connection, fostering a customer centric collaborative approach. The Head of PMO will anticipate and seamlessly navigate delivery complexities at a strategic level, will address challenges and lead continuous improvement campaigns to drive project and delivery excellence.

 You will be responsible for establishing and maintaining the high standard of project management, governance, and process adherence by driving leaders and teams in implementing best practice project management disciplines. The Head of PMO will provide leadership and support to cross-functional project delivery teams through regular meetings and progress reports. As a Cubic Leader the Head of PMO must think and act in with the wider context and interests of Cubic. For example, contribution to the development and delivery of overall strategy, innovation and cultural development.

 Key Responsibilities:

 Strategic Planning

  • As a Cubic Leader, contribute to business plan formulation, providing insights and guidance to support the company's growth strategy.
  • Drive the continued growth strategy by initiating strategic operational changes and partnering with key internal stakeholders for implementation.
  • Contribute to the evolution of customer delivery processes with foresight, envisioning improvements aligned with Cubic’s long-term strategic goals.
  • Manage the program of work strategically, prioritizing projects and initiatives that support Cubic's vision.
  • Drive the development of PMO and business process improvements with a focus on automation, and the removal of wasteful process steps.

 

Project Governance

  • Implement best practice project governance frameworks, standards and methodologies emphasizing quality decision-making and alignment with strategic objectives.
  • Ensure successful project execution by prioritising innovation and strategic goals while meeting or exceeding customer satisfaction and budget objectives.
  • Ensure governance and compliance across projects with a focus on risk management and alignment with Cubic’s strategy.
  • Facilitate project scoping and service engagements with a forward-thinking approach, ensuring solution definition and risk assessment align with the company's strategic objectives.

Resource Management

  • Manage project resource allocation with adaptability, responding to emerging business or technical opportunities while keeping Cubic's strategic vision in mind.
  • Track resources (people and budget) to support project execution.
  • Using Orchestra, optimise organisational resource utilisation and capacity planning for efficient project delivery.
  • Generate data and utilise trend analysis to inform resource planning efforts.

Performance Monitoring and Reporting

  • Manage and maintain project delivery performance KPIs and metrics.
  • Monitor project progress, the preparation of insightful status reports for stakeholders, including internal senior leaders and with our customers.
  • Share insights and lessons learned across programs, fostering relationships with stakeholders, and facilitating informed decision-making.
  • Drive process improvements within the PMO and across programme deliveries, including the introduction of automation, tooling, quality checks and other measures to support high performance.

Risk Management

  • Develop risk management strategies to identify and minimise operational and customer delivery risks.
  • Pro-active dealing with risks through the organisation for successful resolution.

Leadership and Stakeholder Engagement

  • Proactively engage with customers to ensure satisfaction, particularly with key accounts, and proactively manage escalated situations with a customer-centric mindset.
  • Drive the development of the PMO team, nurturing talent and through role modelling, foster a culture of excellence that is outcomes and impact based.
  • Drive all customer project and program delivery as a strategic and visionary leader with a collaborative approach, fostering teamwork across departments to achieve customer and internal targets.
  • Lead by example with a proactive approach to ensure alignment and collaboration across global operations.

Requirements

Skills:

  • Strong leadership and managerial skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate teams.
  • A strategic thinker with the ability to align project goals with Cubic’s overall objectives.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written), with the ability to interact effectively with stakeholders at all levels inside and outside of the organisation.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make data-driven decisions.
  • Proficiency in project management tools and software.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities effectively.

 

Desired Qualifications/Experience:

  • Extensive experience (15 years or more) in project management, with at least 5 years leading a PMO with global customers being essential.
  • Experience working in delivering Software projects.
  • Demonstrated experience in implementing project management methodologies, processes, and best practices.
  • Proven ability and demonstrated experience in identifying business operations blockages and seeking to implement organisational-wide process improvements.
  • Experience in strategic planning, resource management, and budgeting.
  • Experience in managing cross-functional teams and fostering collaboration across departments.
  • Experience in change management and organisational transformation initiatives.
  • Certification in project management (e.g., PMP, PRINCE2)
  • Experience in Lean business models or Six Sigma would be an advantage.
