Role Description

This is a full-time on-site role located in Blarney. The Head of Warehouse Operations and Systems, reporting to the CEO, will play a senior and strategic role in the business. The individual will be responsible for overseeing day-to-day warehouse functions, including supervisory and operations management, management of the 15+ team, and inventory control. The role will also be responsible for warehouse management - reviewing all systems and processes for future growth, and development of strategic initiatives across distribution and storage while ensuring efficiency, accuracy, and safety.

Most importantly, the successful candidate will lead up the implementation of our warehouse automation and optimisation strategy (likely encompassing AutoStore or similar in mid 2025) which will include a significant investment from the business. This will be one of the largest capital expenditure projects the business has undertaken and will require a very high level of skill in project management and technology. Experience in this as well as systems integration and WMS is a distinct advantage. Systems implementation and driving strategic development within distribution will be a key feature of this role and it is expected that the candidate will seek out new opportunities to optimize our existing technology and that of new offerings to further the business from a distribution perspective.

Summary of tasks:

  • Implementation of new warehouse storage automation across physical and digital mediums

  • Lead technology advancements and WMS opportunities within the warehouse

  • Report to the CEO on warehouse performance and operations weekly

  • Lead warehouse team +15 persons in the delivery of business objectives

  • Ensure smooth running of existing warehouse processes

  • Deliver on operational reviews and management of warehouse KPI’s

  • Support the business in contract and engagement negotiations

  • Distribution and logistics oversight and daily monitoring of goods movement

Qualifications

  • Supervisory skills and experience in a warehouse environment

  • Project management skills in large capital projects

  • Strategic planning and inventory control experience

  • ERP and cross-digital integration experience a must

  • Previous experience in Lean methodology and LEAN SIGMA

  • Warehouse management experience, with knowledge of safety and compliance regulations

  • Strong customer service skills, with experience working with diverse clients

  • Effective communication skills, with the ability to communicate with team members, management, and customers

  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to think critically and implement decisions

  • Proficient with computer systems and software used for inventory control and warehouse management

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in logistics, supply chain management, or a related field.

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in warehouse operations management.

  • Experience in automation deployment is a distinct advantage.

  • Excellent people management skills, with the ability to lead and motivate a team.

  • Strong technical and PC skills to manage inventory control systems, logistics software, and other warehouse-related applications.

  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with employees, customers, and suppliers.

  • Knowledge of safety regulations and compliance requirements.
