Job Purpose

The Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland (SEAI) has the responsibility for the administration of the

Building Energy Rating (BER) scheme. FEXCO provides Help Desk and Administration Services to the BER

programme.

As a specialist member of the technical team your role will include the provision of technical expertise to

enhance the delivery of the Building Energy Rating programme.

You will be part of a small team of technically minded people with a desire to continuously develop

knowledge and programme expertise. You will work with our client (SEAI), management, and our

customer service team to ensure that technical advice of the highest standard is provided to customers.

Main Responsibilities

The key responsibilities of the role will include but are not limited to the following:

· Providing technical support to the BER programme, e.g. resolution of technical queries from BER

Assessors.

· Dealing with Stakeholders in a professional and courteous manner by phone, webchat, and

email when responding to escalated cases.

· Support and participate in the development and drafting of technical guidelines, manuals, and

newsletters on behalf of SEAI.

· Providing technical support to the QA process of SEAI programmes.

· Other tasks and projects as may be required by the business.

Qualifications/Experience needed:

A National Craft Certificate in a construction-related trade such as,

· Plumbing,

· Carpentry,

· Block-laying,

· Plastering,

· Electrical

with a minimum of 2 years full-time professional on-site experience,

or,

A third level degree in one of the following disciplines:

· Building Services,

· Building Surveying,

· Engineering,with a minimum of 2 years full-time professional experience of building construction.

· Significant relevant industry experience will also be considered for those whose qualifications are not

within the construction industry.

· Recent graduates with a strong academic record are invited to apply.

· Registered BER Assessors are invited to apply.

The ideal candidate will have the following skills and attributes:

· An ability to multitask and handle multiple technical cases at once, and to investigate issues

through to resolution.

· Strong initiative and drive for results, committed to identifying and escalating systemic issues.

· Must demonstrate excellent written and oral communication skills and have a high level of fluency

in English.

· An ability to interpret and explain complex regulations to others.

A strong team player who shares knowledge and contributes to the team with an appetite for learning

new technologies in relation to sustainable energy and building energy rating.

The following attributes are advantageous, but are not a requirement:

· Detailed knowledge and experience of the Building Energy Rating programme and the DEAP or

NEAP methodologies

· Expertise in energy efficient technologies and standards, with an ability to interpret, explain and

apply building regulations.

· Experience in the design of building systems and/or renewable systems
