Overview

The Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) team is dedicated to creating top-notch container management and orchestration services for cloud environments. We focus on developing container solutions for Azure across both Linux and Windows platforms.

Are you ready to be part of the team that is reshaping the landscape of cloud-native infrastructure on Azure? We are currently seeking an experienced Senior Software Engineer who shares our passion for container technology and Kubernetes orchestration. In this role, you will play a key part in building tools and systems that enable users to effectively monitor and optimize their presence on the Azure Cloud. Join us in collaborating with a diverse global team spanning different continents.

As a Senior Software Engineer within the AKS team, you will tackle challenging technical projects, creating cutting-edge software systems. Your efforts will be crucial in ensuring the quality of our systems, collecting essential data, and providing guidance to fellow engineers in their design and development processes. You will be at the forefront of harnessing advanced AI/ML technologies and extensive cloud infrastructure to elevate Azure Kubernetes and enhance Azure's overall performance. This role offers you the chance to be part of a team where your skills, dedication, and input will significantly influence the evolution of cloud computing.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a related technical field AND 4+ years of technical engineering experience with coding in languages such as C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR equivalent background.
  • 2+ years of coding experience with Kubernetes and container infrastructures.
  • 2+ years of experience in operating and maintaining distributed infrastructures.

Other Requirements:

  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer, and/or government security screening criteria is mandatory for this position. These criteria may involve specialized security screenings such as the Microsoft Cloud Background Check.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science OR a related technical field AND 8+ years of technical engineering experience with coding in languages like C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript OR Python OR Master's Degree in Computer Science or a related technical field AND 6+ years of technical engineering experience with coding in languages such as C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR equivalent experience.
  • Experience with modern monitoring/configuration management systems and/or cloud infrastructure.

Responsibilities

  • Willingness to delve deeply into any level or layer of a problem.
  • Readiness to explore emerging technologies, from software to hardware, and provide recommendations that drive Azure Kubernetes Service forward.
  • Enhance the capabilities of Kubernetes and its related components on Azure.
  • Enhance the service quality of Azure Kubernetes Service.
  • Develop automation to prevent or resolve service issues before they affect production environments.
