Opportunity

Flywheel Digital is looking to add a Frontend Software Engineer to our growing team in Dublin If you're a top candidate, you'll become an integral part of our tech team. You'll be a quick learner who appreciates challenges and values ownership and responsiveness.

Our software for this role is primarily written in React with a NodeJS API service, but we have plenty of other software, languages, frameworks and technologies to dive into. These include frontend user interfaces, API's, processing pipelines,data warehouses and other enterprise-level software technologies.



What you'll do:

You'll be working alongside other engineers and data scientists to collaborate on various features of our eCommerce platform within an Agile environment. Overall, you'll be working on a team that is driving innovation in a greenfield marketplace to create and maintain our best-in-class global software platform

  • Design and develop robust, high-quality sustainable code
  • Maintaining existing applications, user interfaces, APIs, pipelines and functionality
  • Maintaining technical debt and participation in technical projects
  • Participating in technical discussions to continuously improve the company platforms
  • Planning projects in tandem with your team from concept through development and to deployment
  • Mitigating problems with ideas, code and technical solutions
  • Maintain knowledge of market trends and developments in web application development frameworks and related and emerging technologies to provide, recommend, and deliver best-in-class solutions
  • Partner with product and engineering leaders to be involved in decision-making around the architecture and future of the product
  • Responsible for the end-to-end management and maintenance of the software in a cloud hosting environment


Who you are:
  • Strong experience with a modern backend framework, preferably React
  • Strong experience in other frontend development with JavaScript and other frameworks, like Angular etc
  • Deep JavaScript knowledge, including the fundamentals of the chosen language and framework
  • Experience in large enterprise application design and development
  • Experience in building, deploying and monitoring cloud-based applications
  • Working knowledge of using a distributed version control system within a team environment (preferably Git)
  • Database experience in either MySQL or PostgreSQL
  • Rigorous about testing on all levels. Unit, Integration etc
  • Ability to write clear, secure, testable and scalable code
  • Experience working with cross functional teams and other API/database developers
  • The ability to conduct research and create detailed solution designs to tasks and problems
  • Experience working in an agile environment participating in and running SCRUM meetings
  • Excellent oral and written English communication skills
  • The initiative to dive into problems early, debug and solve them outside of set tasks
  • Good understanding of user experience concepts and their application in developing appealing user interface
  • Fanatical about the customer experience
  • A passion for product and feature development
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Highly motivated and self-directed
Nice to haves:
  • Ability and experience to dive into API and database tasks and issues
  • Experience in a scripting language like Python, NodeJS or Ruby
  • The initiative to take on tasks outside of the frontend and be responsible for changes in the API and database layers
  • Broad experience in cloud-based services, its setup, administration, use-cases and costings, preferably AWS
  • Authentication methods, protocols and implementations like SSO etc
  • Experience spans both Full Stack backend and frontend engineering
  • Understanding and experience with security fundamentals, role-based security, and familiarity using encryption keys and controls
  • Service Oriented Architecture experience
  • Deeper experience in MySQL or PostgreSQL databases including querying, relationships, setup and administration
  • Experience in Snowflake or other large data warehouses
  • Involvement in monitoring applications for errors and performance in a cloud-based service tool
