Role Overview

In this role you will be responsible for Leading all commercial and procurement activity within ILG with an annual spend of c€150m. Creating and delivering the commercial and procurement strategy within Irish Life Group (ILG) that is aligned to European and Global procurement and delivers tangible value through effective cost and risk management.

This role will create relationships with key senior stakeholder across the ILG businesses to understand business priorities and connect procurement with business goals. The role will also lead relationship management and negotiation with various suppliers and vendors across the ILG business to drive strategic value, deliver exceptional customer service, cost optimisation and risk management.

Team Background


• This role sits within our Procurement & Supplier Risk Management team and reports to our European Head of Procurement.

• This team has oversight/responsibility for all Third-Party Procurement and Supplier Risk Management across Europe.

To drive strategic value, deliver exceptional customer service, cost optimisation and risk management.

More specific responsibilities will include:


• As Senior Procurement and Contract Manager this role will involve:

• Drive the macro-level procurement and contracts management strategy and processes for ILG ensuring alignment with business goals.

• Ensuring a deep understanding of the current third-party cost base and commercial landscape

• Build relationships and partner with key senior stakeholders and senior leaders to understand business priorities and objectives and translate these into the overall procurement strategic direction and roadmaps.

• Define stretching and commercial procurement targets and strategies to deliver on these.

• Ensure all goods and services supplied to ILG via the procurement team deliver service, value and cost optimisation.

• Build strong working relationships across European and Global Procurement to ensure we leverage the power of the collective in our commercial decision making and optimising governance and processes.

• Be responsible for guidance on European Supplier Management

• Lead negotiations on supplier contracts and ensure adequate reviews are being performed at least annually.

• Manage risk to ensure that ILG is protected by secure fully negotiated contracts and any known risks associated with contracts are pre-empted and responsibility for managing same is understood by contract owners.

• Be a key contributor to the annual planning and budgeting process for all regions.

• Ensures the Supplier Lifecycle is followed as per Supplier Risk Policy.

• Teamwork & Cross Functional Collaboration – exhibits and drives behaviour the facilitates cross functional collaboration and effective working teams.

• Works effectively to build win- win relationships with key suppliers and stakeholders.

• Initiates and develops opportunities for self and others to share knowledge and build on the experience of others in the Group.

• Translates the overall vision and goals of procurement and clarifies what is required form business units.
