Our client, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), is now accepting applications for the role of Programme Officer III (Level 5) General.

Overview of the Role:

The selected candidate will fulfill the position of Programme Officer III (Level 5) General, taking on an administrative role with various responsibilities in the assigned area. The EPA is seeking individuals who can handle a high level of responsibility and show potential for leadership and advancement within the organization.

The EPA will establish a pool of candidates from this recruitment drive to fill both immediate and future Programme Officer III (Level 5) vacancies.

The main duties and responsibilities of a Programme Officer III (Level 5) revolve around the administration and implementation of statutory functions. The successful candidate will collaborate with a diverse team including scientific/technical and other business support members. Candidates should be adaptable, able to work effectively under tight deadlines, and dedicated to delivering top-notch results and services. They must exhibit excellent interpersonal skills, capability to form relationships (both internal and external), and a proven record of providing exceptional customer service in a busy office environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assisting with the organizational and administrative functions of the office;
  • Owning assigned tasks, prioritizing, and working efficiently as part of a team in a fast-paced environment while meeting deadlines;
  • Managing various resources, including procurement, budget preparation, and administration of regulatory processes;
  • Developing and adhering to procedures, as well as contributing to procedure reviews;
  • Providing high-quality customer service to internal and external stakeholders;
  • Handling public inquiries, outside communications, and maintaining up-to-date information management systems;
  • Preparing quality documents and reports for management;
  • Conducting research for project development;
  • Organizing meetings, conferences, and events;
  • Providing on-the-job training and support to new team members;
  • Participating in training programs for performance improvement;
  • Undertaking any other relevant duties as assigned.

Successful candidates might work in any EPA office, with duties varying based on the office's activities.

Essential Requirements:

Candidates should have, by 4 pm on Wednesday, 29th May 2024:

  • Leaving Certificate (or equivalent) with a minimum of two years of relevant work experience in a similar office role;
  • Demonstrated experience in working to deadlines and task prioritization;
  • Strong ICT skills, proficiency in Microsoft Office, and the ability to learn new systems;
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written;
  • Capability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

Desirable Requirements:

  1. Prior experience adhering to policies, procedures, or corporate guidelines.
