Bord Gáis Energy generates, sells, and trades energy in the Republic of Ireland. Since 1976, supplying over 700,000 customers with energy in Ireland. In 2014 became part of Centrica plc. The Technical Business Analyst, reporting to the Head of Industry & Smart Solutions, will support the operation and development of Bord Gáis Energy's Gas and Electricity retail market systems, processes, and design.

This role involves an outward and internal business-facing aspect. In this role, you will learn about Irish retail energy market processes, technology, internal systems (Oracle CC&B system), and end-to-end business processes.

Join the Industry & Smart Solutions Team, supporting:

  • Gas and Electricity industry interfaces with Network Operators (GNI and ESBN)
  • Internal Gas & Electricity processes
  • Processing of BGE customer interval consumption data

You will support activities such as customer supplier switching, meter works, customer readings, and meter configurations.

A mix of skills, technical, business analyst, and/or developer background preferred, with an interest in learning about the retail energy market.

About the Role

  • Supporting Bord Gáis Energy Industry orchestration, incorporated into Oracle CC&B and market design
  • Develop and execute work plans with the Head of Industry, prioritising and coordinating tasks and workload for yourself and the team
  • Ownership of assigned market process rules or message flows, managing interactions with team leaders across IT and various business units
  • Represent the Industry Team at different meetings and sprints
  • Document and perform configuration changes on the Oracle CC&B system
  • Communicate with developers via pseudo code and/or learning Oracle proprietary scripting language
  • Hands-on analysis, working closely with development, testing, and release planning teams

About You

  • IT utility experience advantageous
  • Experience with PL/SQL or SQL for data analysis
  • Agile delivery with Azure DevOps and backlogs
  • History of supporting technical change and software development
  • Collaboration skills with a varied group of stakeholders
  • Ability to understand complex systems and low-level interactions
  • Experience with XML interfaces and schemas
  • Experience with SAP ISU, Oracle Utilities CC&B or equivalent applications desirable
  • Writing design documentation for offshore development, assisting with system testing
  • Degree in Business, Engineering, or IT with a minimum of 2 years' experience
  • Self-starter, multitasking, eager to learn about utility processes and systems
