We are recruiting a qualified or nearly qualified Actuary to join our Actuarial Function at AXA Ireland.

This role is to support our expansion into Health Underwriting in Ireland.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a team responsible for delivering solutions which will shape and drive AXA's initiatives for all classes of business / channels / territories written by AXA Ireland (Property, Casualty & Health).

You'll work at least 40% of your week away from home. Primary location is our Dublin Head office.

What you'll be doing:


Working closely with the Head of Actuarial Function and other senior members of the Actuarial Function to drive the development of the Health team within the Actuarial Function.

This will include;

  • Building and maintaining the health reserving processes, financial reporting and regulatory reporting processes.
  • Monitoring of the health underwriting processes from an actuarial function perspective including pricing, policy governance and data quality.
  • Co-ordinating with other members of the Actuarial Function to meet the overall AXA Insurance dac regulatory requirements.
  • Liaising with AXA Insurance dac Finance department, Pricing department and LAYA health colleagues to understand and monitor performance, review key assumptions and report on emerging experience.
  • Will have a minimum of 3 years' experience in actuarial / pricing / data science related work. Experience in non-life or health related insurance is preferred.
  • Fellow of the Society of Actuaries in Ireland or equivalent body or data science background with demonstrated commercial acumen.
  • Highly motivated individual with a proven track record of delivering work with a high level of quality, and within agreed timescales.
  • Understanding of the Actuarial Function requirements including reserving processes and regulatory reporting is desirable.
  • High level of competency in SAS, R and/or other programming language.
  • High level of competency in Microsoft Office suite.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with an ability to work collaboratively with others and influence at all levels of the organisation.
  • Awareness of the overall compliance to Health & Safety, IT Security and all legislation/compliance in Actuarial function.
