The Position:

This role will collaborate closely with the Chief Risk Officer of PIA to oversee the necessary tasks to assist her in meeting her duties and fostering a strong Risk Culture across PIA, with a particular emphasis on Enterprise Risk Management.

Working alongside senior team members within the Financial & Operational Risk department as peers and allies, and supporting a group of junior actuaries and risk professionals, this role will lead the ERM contributions of the Risk Function to crucial activities such as Business Planning, ORSA, Risk Appetite Monitoring, KRI development and review, Policy Management, and Recovery Planning, among others. Additionally, there will be a component of people management involved.

Main Responsibilities for this role:
  • Coordinate and lead the ORSA & Recovery Planning Processes - working with stakeholders across the organization, developing and overseeing the plans, drafting important sections of narrative, and reviewing inputs from others.
  • Maintain the Emerging Risk Framework, the Risk ID and Top Risks Assessment Processes as well as Climate Risk & Sustainability related initiatives.
  • Contribute to the creation of quarterly Risk Reports to the Board, key reports to Group, and any other necessary outputs.
  • Represent the Risk Function in key decision-making forums including various management and oversight committees.
  • Support colleagues within the Risk Function as we progress in developing and enhancing PIA's Risk Management Framework and Culture.
  • Participate as needed in the team's interactions with Auditors, Peer Reviewers, and the CBI.
  • Oversee (and when applicable lead) the implementation of actions and recommendations arising from reports produced by the CRO, HoAF, the Risk Management Function, Auditors, etc.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and take personal responsibility for the quality of deliverables that you are accountable for, to contribute to improving the overall risk and control environment, customer outcomes, and management of PIA's risks according to Risk Appetite.
Key Requirements, Skills & Experience:
  • Qualified actuary or equivalent, with more than 5 years' experience in Risk or related areas, preferably within a Life Risk Function or similar role.
  • Solid technical and practical knowledge of current and evolving ERM practices, CBI framework, and other relevant regulations.
  • Effective management and interpersonal skills including fostering the career development of team members.
  • Collaborative attitude, with the capacity to work efficiently with the CRO and other colleagues in Risk, Actuarial, and Finance within PIA and throughout the Group.
  • Excellent analytical skills, with the ability to provide constructive challenges, identify issues and opportunities.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills are crucial, particularly the capability to produce high-quality reports.
  • Demonstrates a strong work ethic, positive mindset, and teamwork.
  • Self-driven with the ability to proactively manage your time, multiple tasks, and meet deadlines.
