Ever since Arthur Guinness took out a 9,000 year lease on a Dublin brewery, some 264 years ago, we have been a business that is defined by the character of the people who work here. Today the team at St James Gate is proud to continue the legacy of Arthur Guinness and in doing so continue to brew the world's most iconic brands.

St. James's Gate Brewery in Dublin is Diageo's largest manufacturing facility in Ireland, and the largest stout brewery in the world, producing over three million pints of Guinness every day, supplying a growing Irish, UK and US market, and exporting to 90 global markets. Our main beer brands are Guinness, Rockshore, Hop House 13, Smithwick's and Harp. We also brew Carlsberg and Tuborg under licence for the Irish market, as well as a range of newer products, most recently Guinness 0.0. The brewery is highly utilised placing a premium on plant and process reliability.

We are delighted to share that we are looking for a Process Controller to join our Beer operations team in St James Gate. Our Beer category are made up of approximately 400 employees who are engaged in roles across St James's Gate, Belfast Packaging and Runcorn Packaging.

About the role:

As a Process Operator you will have the opportunity to learn and develop in a number of key processes across Brewing, Quality, Kegging and Tanker dispatch.

You'll be responsible for the operation of respective process control system and procedures. Additionally, you will play a role in ensuring compliance to food safety and quality standards, ensuring that we deliver quality product to our customers every time.

In this role you'll utilise safe systems of working, and risk assessment of plant and process. Health and safety compliance is key, and be at the forefront of making sure this is supervised alongside other Key Performance Indicators and targets including quality, hygiene, waste, and efficiency.

Main duties within the role will be to:

  • Understand the functions, working of machines and perform autonomous maintenance tasks.
  • Manage and control all processes including operation of packaging machinery.
  • Carry out quality analyses relevant to the role, and ensure quality is right first time and all data input.
  • Apply Manufacturing Excellence tools and techniques.

About you

This role requires a proactive approach. You'll work closely with stakeholders in our brewing operations, planning and logistics teams to ensure that any risks to our customer service are mitigated; being a good communicator is essential. You'll use your analytical mindset to support in root cause problem solving (RCPS) where required. Through a suite of manufacturing excellence tools we strive to achieve world-class standards, and you'll support us on our continuous improvement journey by identify and undertaking projects in your area.
