Diabetes Care Kilkenny

Our new manufacturing facility in Kilkenny, opening in 2024, reflects the growing demand for Abbott's global Diabetes Care products. The facility will be a centre for world-class engineering, quality, medical device manufacturing, and other science-based professionals to produce life-changing technologies, including the FreeStyle Libre 3, a system that automatically delivers real-time, up-to-the-minute glucose readings, with the smallest and thinnest wearable glucose sensor that provides unsurpassed 14-day accuracy and optional glucose alarms directly to smartphones. This enables people with diabetes to live the best and fullest lives they can.

As a Quality Technician, you will be responsible for maintaining the effectiveness of the quality system. Ensure the area is compliant to site and divisional policies and procedures. Support the building and maintenance of successful cross-functional relationships with departments such as R&D, Technical, Engineering, Operations, and Regulatory Affairs in order to achieve all operational goals. This is a shift-based role on a 4 cycle shift.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Maintain the effectiveness of the Quality System.
  2. Ensure the site provides safe and effective products that meet customer needs while maintaining compliance.
  3. Assist engineering in collecting, compiling, measuring, and recording data.
  4. Support continuous improvement through continuous maintenance of the quality management systems.
  5. Maintain the quality and compliance of associated quality records.
  6. Raise any Quality / Compliance issues.
  7. Present and communicate status, report metrics, identify potential issues, and improvement initiatives, as applicable.
  8. Ensure audit readiness tasks are actioned within area of responsibility.
  9. Identify projects to enhance the effectiveness of the quality system and product quality.
  10. Support Operations to make Quality / Compliance decisions on product during processing, manufacturing, and testing.

Qualifications and Experience

  1. Minimum NFQ Level 6 Qualification in Engineering, Science or Manufacturing qualification.
  2. Minimum 2 years experience in food/medical/pharmaceutical industry.
  3. Strong communication skills.
  4. Strong attention to detail.
