Prompt Trading Desk Manager, Great Britain

ESB Trading, part of the Generation and Trading division of ESB and trades the output from the ESB portfolio in GB and Ireland through various trading strategies and time horizons.
ESB Prompt Trading desks operate across all short-term Power and Gas Markets to optimise ESB positions in these markets and to maximise value from the ESB generation portfolio.
We are seeking a candidate with high potential to lead our Great Britain Prompt Trading team.
This is a unique opportunity to join the ESB Trading leadership team and help shape ESB's trading strategy, particularly as the UK offshore wind portfolio continues to expand.
The Prompt Manager will operate as part of the wider ESB Trading management team in delivering against business plan targets and contribute to the development of an informed and empowered workforce through effective communications, teamwork, accountability and key performance measures.
The Prompt Manager will be customer centric, leading engagement with a range of stakeholders including ESB Generation and Asset Management, GB National Gas Transmission, National Energy System Operator (NESO) and other areas of ESB to grow and enhance the business, while focusing on developing Trading Strategies in line with ESB's Brighter Future strategy.
The successful candidate will lead and manage the Great Britain Prompt Trading team and will have responsibly to contribute towards the successful delivery of the financial targets of the wider ESB Trading business.
They will be a team player and self-starter with the ability to multi-task, meet deadlines and manage, develop and motivate team members.
They will also have a demonstrable ability to communicate and relate effectively with staff at all levels in the organisation.
The candidate will drive and facilitate innovation within the team identifying market opportunities ensuring a consistent commercial approach is adopted and all commercial initiatives are aligned with ESB Trading Strategy.
Key Responsibilities
Ensure the Trading team acts in a proactive manner in power and gas markets to continually seek to optimise trading positions in the prompt electricity markets.
Maintain and develop prompt trading systems and processes to ensure that all prompt traded positions are optimised, and that and regulatory risk is managed in a robust manner.
Management, integration and delivery of contracted trading services for the Inch Cape 1072MW offshore wind farm currently under construction (an ESB JV project).
Manage Regulatory compliance and incident reporting across the trading team.
Engage positively with counterparties both external and internal to foster collaborative relationships.
Proactively support and develop the capabilities of the team.
Engaging with the wider Generation and Trading team to ensure that potential new investment opportunities are properly assessed from Prompt perspective.
Lead, support, and champion the values and cultural attributes of ESB through open communication, team-working and innovatio n.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
7+ years relevant experience.
Extensive experience/knowledge of Electricity and Gas markets and associated commodity markets.
Have a good understanding of operational risk management in a Trading environment.
Proven stakeholder management skills at peer level and senior levels of the business and ability to deliver change.
Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team, taking ownership of work / projects and motivating team members to deliver team objectives or projects.
A strong numeric and analytical background with attention to detail.
Strong communication and leadership skills with the ability to develop and maintain positive collaborative relationships across different teams and business units.
Qualifications
3rd level qualification in suitable Business, Science or Engineering degree or equivalent work experience is required.

The successful candidate may combine remote / smart working within the jurisdiction, with attendance at base for in-person collaboration, the frequency of which is agreed with the manager and subject to ongoing review.
