We are HQ'd in Kilkenny, with offices in Dublin and London, and a client base that stretches across Ireland, the UK, Europe, and the Middle East.
The area of Sustainability is a huge growth area and LAWLER Sustainability have developed a broad palette of prototype services that positions them uniquely in the market to scale these market offerings.
We are seeking appoint a Commercial Director to join our dynamic team, working closely with company directors and CEO to maximise revenue generation and business development.
This role is a critical leadership position within the organisation, a member of the Senior Leadership team, reporting to the CEO, and has key relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Position Overview:
As the Commercial Director, you will collaborate with the leadership team to formulate strategies, establish objectives, and execute initiatives that foster company expansion, enduring profitability, and success
This role provides an outstanding prospect for the ideal candidate to truly influence and be recognized for their valuable contributions.
The ideal candidate will exhibit a profound drive, showcasing a genuine enthusiasm for crafting exceptional client experiences and a desire to inspire others to achieve the same.
A robust ability to coach and lead a team toward success is imperative for this role.
Are you comfortable engaging with stakeholders at all levels including cold and warm leads, existing clients, senior management, and other key personnel?
Do you have much experience building and maintaining strong client relationships?
Are you comfortable supporting our teams in adapting marketing content to appeal to different audiences across a range of digital and traditional channels, with a deep understanding of our brand?

Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement the commercial strategy for the engineering consultancy, aligning it with overall business objectives and ensuring sustained growth.
Client Relationship Management: Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with key clients, understanding their needs and ensuring the delivery of high-quality engineering solutions that exceed expectations.
Financial Oversight: Take charge of financial performance, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
Ensure effective cost management and identify opportunities for revenue enhancement.
Contract Negotiation and Management: Lead negotiations of commercial agreements and contracts, ensuring favourable terms and compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
Monitor and manage ongoing contracts to optimize outcomes.
Market Analysis: Conduct market research and analysis to identify emerging trends, competitive landscapes, and potential business opportunities.
Provide insights to support informed decision-making.
Team Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, sales, and project management, to ensure a cohesive approach in delivering client solutions and achieving business objectives.
Risk Management: Assess and manage commercial risks, implementing strategies to mitigate potential issues and safeguard the consultancy's reputation and financial interests.
Performance Metrics: Define and track key performance indicators (KPIs) related to commercial activities.
Regularly report on progress and implement improvements based on performance metrics.
Business Development: Drive business development initiatives to expand the company's client base and market presence.
Identify and pursue opportunities for new business and strategic partnerships.
Compliance and Ethics: Ensure adherence to ethical standards, industry regulations, and legal requirements in all commercial activities.
Implement policies and procedures to uphold the highest standards of professionalism and integrity within the organization.
Technology Integration: Stay abreast of technological advancements relevant to the engineering consultancy sector.
Evaluate and implement innovative technologies that enhance operational efficiency, client service delivery, and overall competitiveness.
Requirements:
A minimum of 10+ experience in a similar role, including at least 5 years of team leadership or people management experience.
A bachelor's degree or equivalent in Business, Sales, or other relevant discipline.
Excellent negotiation skills and the ability to close deals effectively.
Strong written & verbal communication skills to manage both team and client relationships.
Strong presentation skills in order to facilitate client meetings and online webinars.
Good networking and influencing skills with a focus on achieving positive outcomes from interactions.
Strong analytical skills and the ability to create and deploy strategic and tactical plans.
Effective problem-solving skills and the ability to work quickly, efficiently and to tight deadlines.
Technical proficiency in Microsoft Office, Canva, Google Analytics, Active Campaign, Word Press.
CRM System Management: Familiarity with and experience using Active Campaign an advantage.
A genuine passion for and knowledge of sustainability and the construction industry.
