for the day-to-day activities in the group home.To assist the social care leader in the responsibility for health and safety, programme implementation, personal care plans, budget management, staff planning, staff support and family liaison.Job GoalTo listen to, learn from, support and work to achieve the priorities of the residents in compliance with the National Standards for Residential Services for Children & Adults with Disabilities **** and the Health Care Act **** (Care and support of residences in designated centres for persons (Children & Adults) with disabilities) regulations ****.To provide them with a home-from-home in accordance with CoAction's Mission Statement.Main ResponsibilitiesCare for the day-to-day needs of the residents in compliance with the Health Care Act **** (Care and support of residents in designated centres for persons (Children and Adults) with disabilities) regulations **** and the Provision of the Childcare Act **** and all relevant regulations and standards that apply to Children in care.Contribute to the promotion, creation and maintenance of a welcoming, caring and supportive environment in the Group Home ensuring a high standard of care is delivered.At all times treat the residents of the Group Home with dignity and respect.Be attentive to the physical and emotional needs of the people we support.Encourage group participation in the day-to-day running of the house (e.g., cleaning, budgeting, cooking, menu planning, shopping, recreation activities).Contribute to the provision of a programme of stimulating activities for all the residents and assist residents in developing recreation activities and hobbies.Escort and assist on group outings arranged.Ensure residents are not subjected to any forms of abuse and in particular bullying or the threat of bullying.Implement agreed service user programmes in liaison with the Social Care Leader.Maintain relevant records within the house to a high standard.Share in duties essential to hygiene and undertake domestic duties to keep the house clean and tidy.Under the guidance of the Social Care Leader/Area Manager maintain good relationships with clients, families and other professionals.Participate in staff meetings.Ensure health and safety guidelines are adhered to at all times.Ensure accidents/incidents and complaints are reported and dealt with in line with CoAction's policies and procedures.Keep the Social Care Leader/Area Manager informed of residents' welfare through regular reports and oral communication.Be alert to any possible danger from premises or equipment and address it with the Social Care Leader/Area Manager.In immediate danger, take appropriate action to reduce risk of injury.Develop skills and abilities by taking part in training courses open to you.Deliver induction and training to residential staff as agreed with the Social Care Leader/Area Manager.Carry out day-to-day supervision of staff reporting to you.Contribute in a positive and energetic manner to the overall development of CoAction and the services it provides.Ensure that all policies are adhered to at all times and maintain confidentiality within the team.Carry out other duties as agreed with the Social Care Leader/Area Manager.Teach daily living and social skills to residents.Administer and record prescribed medication to residents.Be an active member of the day/residential team and attend meetings/case conferences as required.Health & SafetyBe aware of and practice the correct use of all aids and appliances (e.g., hoists).Ensure all accidents/incidents are reported and documented in the accident/incident book.Be aware of safety duties under the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Act ****.Report faulty equipment and fittings to the Person in Charge, Staff Nurse/Supervisor.Ensure knowledge of emergency actions and plans.Ensure fire and safety precautions are implemented and maintained.LeadershipUnder the direction of the Social Care Leader/Nurse, manage, develop and support staff, including induction, supervisory support and training in line with Foundation practices and applicable regulations.Coordinate and develop individual plans to meet residents' needs.Hold supervision meetings with support staff as directed.Carry out goal setting and development with support staff.Ensure staff adhere to Foundation policies and procedures.Develop and maintain effective communication with residents, colleagues, families and stakeholders.Promote dignity at work and respect for residents, colleagues, families and stakeholders.Ensure staff establish relationships with residents based on respect and independence.Support advocacy in person-centered care.Ensure complaints are dealt with in accordance with the Foundation's complaints policy.Person SpecificationEssential QualificationsA recognised qualification involving a third-level supervised practice element, or a recognised professional qualification for Social Care (list below).Essential SkillsInterpersonal skillsAbility to relate to people with intellectual disabilities, FlexibilityWillingness to learnAbility to work on own initiativeKnowledge of advocacy and practical applicationAbility to write reportsComputer literacyGood communication skillsLeadership abilityEssential ExperienceMinimum 12 months experience in a residential setting with Regulations and HIQA inspectionsRemunerationThe remuneration for this post will be as per the CoAction **** salary scale for a Social Care Worker which is €38,108 to €50,954 pa FTE.This pay scale is
