TOBIN, a large multi-disciplinary consultancy practice operating in Ireland since ****, is currently looking to recruit an experiencedDesign Engineer (Water & Utilities)to join our busy and growing team in any of our offices – Dublin, Galway, Limerick, Sligo or Castlebar.This is a full-time role with hybrid working options.Competency:The position of Design (Civil) Engineer within TOBIN requires a minimum Level 8 Honours Degree qualification in Civil Engineering (or equivalent qualification appropriate to the tasks assigned) and in general the title may apply to staff that have between 2- and 6-years' experience depending on the knowledge and skills gained over the course of their career to date.Duties and Responsibilities:As a member of a team within a TOBIN department and through mentoring with senior members of staff within TOBIN, the Design (Civil) Engineer will be required to undertake the following duties:Where directed by the Project Manager, liaise with Clients to deliver the required designs.Review documents and designs prepared by Graduate Engineers.Complete designs and drawings for site development worksComplete surface water drainage designs for developments in accordance with SuDS, this should include determining the greenfield runoff rate and sizing soakaways and attenuation tanksDesigning of foul sewer and water main networks for developments in accordance with the Irish Water Codes of PracticeLiaison with Irish Water through the pre-connection enquiry, connection application and diversions processes.Preparing Designers' Assessments of Risk for all designsPreparing preliminary inspection plans and undertaking BCAR inspectionsProcurement of Site Investigation, Building and Civil Engineering Contracts and, where appropriate, the preparation of pricing schedules and Bills of Quantities.Assisting our Project Managers in the preparation of tender documents and tender assessments.Administration of the construction contracts to ensure that design requirements, project schedules and project budget are achieved.Liaising with local authorities in scoping the feasibility of new projects in terms of drainage, traffic, flooding etc.Take instruction from their Line Manager (and where appropriate, the relevant Project Manager and senior members of the project teams).The Skills Required of a Design (Civil) Engineer:Excellent written and verbal (English) communication and interpersonal communication skills.Competent understanding of drainage design principles, including implementation of Sustainable Urban Drainage Systems and the requirements of the Irish Water Codes of Practice for Water and Wastewater InfrastructureFully versed in the requirements of site development works, including the principles of the Design Manual for Urban Roads and Streets and the Recommendations for Site Development WorksProficient in the use of AutoCAD 2D and in the use of site modelling software packages, such as Site 3D, and drainage design software packages, such as Innovyze MicroDrainageWorking knowledge of relevant software packages such as Microsoft Project and the capability to develop skills in the use of other software packages such as Microsoft Access and GIS software packages such as ArcGIS and MapInfo.Working knowledge of the various public procurement procedures and thresholdsWorking knowledge of construction contracts such as the PWMF Forms of Contract and RIAI Forms of Contract.Working knowledge of the Building Regulations, i.e. Technical Guidance Documents A-MHow to ApplyIf you feel that this opportunity is something you may be interested in and would like an opportunity to discuss the matter further, please forward your c.v. to******#J-*****-Ljbffr
