Systems EngineerIrish Cement Limited is seeking to recruit a Systems Engineer to join its technical team.The successful candidate will be based in Platin Works, Co.Louth and will report to the Engineering Manager.Irish Cement Limited is a fully owned subsidiary of CRH plc and has manufactured cement in Ireland for over 85 years.It operates two cement-manufacturing facilities, one situated in Platin, approximately 5km from Drogheda, Co.Louth and a second in Castlemungret, Co.Limerick.Production uses the most advanced, energy-efficient technology to create a range of high-quality cements to the highest Irish and International standards.The key responsibilities of the position are to provide professional engineering services, included but not limited to:Responsibility for the Siemens PCS7 central control system for Platin Works to ensure it operates efficiently and effectively.Network Owner, responsible for all servers and control system software and communication.Design and programming of software for projects and plant modifications as required.Software modifications, fault finding, PID loop set-up and tuning, and assistance to engineers on control systems issues.Commissioning and signal checking for projects and plant modifications.Maintenance of operator stations and plant visualisation software.To coordinate the uploading of new software and upgrades where necessary.Coordinate activities with expert engineers from Control System suppliersThe role requires knowledge of Siemens PCS7 control systems combined with a strong technical background to interact with various departments at all stages of the production process.Candidates should ideally possess:A minimum of 5 years' relevant hands-on experience in industry together with a degree or similar qualification in a technical engineering related discipline.Experience of PCS7, Step 7, Simatic Manager and WinCC.Experience with Windows operating systems, security and network configuration.Experience with the following PLC programming languages: CFC, FBD and STL.Some exposure to SQL and a high-level programming language.Knowledge of system archiving/restoration and OT cyber security tools and practices.Excellent communication and relationship building skills.Proven technical skills and business acumen.The successful candidate will receive the necessary training to broaden their existing knowledge.Outstanding candidates who do not possess all of the above criteria may also be considered.This vacancy provides an exciting opportunity for the successful candidate to join a multi-national organisation with possibilities for progression within Irish Cement and the wider CRH group.CRH is headquartered in Ireland and currently operates in 29 countries with over 3,155 locations and employs 73,000 people.Candidates wishing to be considered for this position can submit a current CV before; Friday 5th September **** to using the following subject heading "Systems Engineer Platin".Visit for more informationJob Types: Full-time, PermanentPay: From €50,****** per yearBenefits:Bike to work schemeCompany pensionOn-site parkingEducation:Bachelor's (preferred)Experience:relevant hands-on: 5 years (preferred)Work Location: In personApplication deadline: 05/09/2025Reference ID: Systems Engineer
