Senior Mechanical Design Engineer
Wexford, Ireland
We're recruiting for a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join a growing team focused on designing custom automation and packaging machinery.
This is a hands-on role with full project ownership — from concept through to commissioning.
Key Responsibilities:
Design bespoke machines including cartoners, case packers, and tray loaders
Create 3D models, manufacturing drawings, and BOMs using SolidWorks
Lead design reviews and support FAT/SAT activities
Collaborate with electrical, controls, and project teams
Ensure compliance with GMP, CE, and relevant safety standards
What You'll Need:
8+ years' experience in mechanical design, ideally in automation or special purpose machinery
Strong proficiency in SolidWorks and PDM systems
Good understanding of pneumatics, servo systems, cams, and mechanical drives
Clear communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally
Nice to Have:
Experience in pharmaceutical or medical device automation
Familiarity with robotics, vision systems, or simulation tools
Knowledge of GMP, CE marking, and machine safety standards
