Lead Mechanical Design Engineer for High-Speed Packaging Equipment

We seek an experienced mechanical design engineer to lead the development of cutting-edge secondary packaging equipment. As a key member of our engineering team, you will drive innovation and excellence in machine design, ensuring that our products meet the highest standards of quality, reliability, and performance.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop bespoke automation and secondary packaging systems
  • Produce detailed 3D models, 2D manufacturing drawings, and bills of materials using SolidWorks (or similar CAD software)
  • Own projects from concept through to completion, including design qualification, factory acceptance testing, and site acceptance testing
  • Ensure designs comply with regulatory requirements, including GMP, CE, and industry-specific safety standards
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including controls, electrical, and project management
  • Perform risk assessments, design for manufacturability, and tolerance stack-ups
  • Mentor and coach junior engineers and designers
  • Evaluate new technologies and design methodologies to improve machine performance and reliability

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
  • 8+ years' experience in mechanical design, with at least 5 in automation or special purpose machinery
  • Proven track record in designing complex, high-speed mechanisms and packaging equipment
  • Expert-level proficiency with 3D CAD and product data management systems
  • Strong understanding of pneumatics, servo systems, cams, and mechanical drives
  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements, including GMP, CE, and machine safety standards

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with pharmaceutical or medical device automation
  • Knowledge of serialization, vision systems, or robotic integration
  • Understanding of design qualification, factory acceptance testing, and site acceptance testing processes
