Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

Wexford, Ireland

We're recruiting for a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join a growing team focused on designing custom automation and packaging machinery. This is a hands-on role with full project ownership — from concept through to commissioning.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design bespoke machines including cartoners, case packers, and tray loaders
  • Create 3D models, manufacturing drawings, and BOMs using SolidWorks
  • Lead design reviews and support FAT/SAT activities
  • Collaborate with electrical, controls, and project teams
  • Ensure compliance with GMP, CE, and relevant safety standards

What You'll Need:

  • 8+ years' experience in mechanical design, ideally in automation or special purpose machinery
  • Strong proficiency in SolidWorks and PDM systems
  • Good understanding of pneumatics, servo systems, cams, and mechanical drives
  • Clear communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally

Nice to Have:

  • Experience in pharmaceutical or medical device automation
  • Familiarity with robotics, vision systems, or simulation tools
  • Knowledge of GMP, CE marking, and machine safety standards
