Responsibilities
Design and develop electrical systems for water and wastewater treatment plants, pumping stations, and related infrastructure.
Author detailed technical specifications, control philosophies, cable/load schedules, network diagrams, and technical reports.
Review MCC schematics, contractor calculations, and PLC/SCADA architectures; close design gaps, issue technical submittals, and respond to RFIs.
Prepare technical submittals; assist FAT, SAT, QA/QC walk-downs, and commissioning.
Supervise junior team members and review work items, providing mentorship, ensuring quality standards are met, and fostering professional development within the team.
Qualifications
Essential
:
Hold an honours degree (level 8 in the National Framework of Qualifications), or equivalent professional qualification, in electrical engineering as applicable to the role.
Have at least 3 years' relevant experience in engineering consultancy or EPC (within water, wastewater, or comparable heavy-process plants).
Demonstrated understanding of water-treatment unit operations and the ability to assess existing EICA assets to develop upgrade or new-build designs.
Competent in producing SLDs, Block Cable & Network-Infrastructure diagrams, and providing input to GAs, 3-D/BIM models and P&IDs.
Exposure to PLC/SCADA integration and a working understanding of LV/MV protection coordination principles.
Proficient with AutoCAD Electrical/MEP and at least one electrical-design platform (TrimbleProDesign, ETAP, EPLAN or equivalent).
Strong teamwork, written and verbal communication, and stakeholder-management abilities; comfortable interfacing with multidisciplinary teams, vendors and contractors.
Desirable
:
A minimum of five years' experience on water/wastewater-treatment or other major process-industry projects, covering the full project lifecycle.
Chartered Engineer (CEng) or actively pursuing chartership
Proven capability with detailed EICA calculations (cable sizing, voltage-drop, short-circuit, earthing, lighting, fault studies) and equipment selection (MCCs/VFDs, transformers, motors, instrumentation).
Working knowledge of I.S.10101:2020, IEC/BSEN standards and WIMES specifications
Working Knowledge of Irish and EU Health & Safety legislation (e.g., Safety, Health & Welfare at Work Regulations).
Project Management/Contract Management experience.
Experience in liaison with ESB and Grid Connections
Full clean driving licence and willingness to travel to client sites as required
