Specialist Medical Scientist - Microbiology
Kate Cowhig International Recruitment is currently recruiting an experienced Specialist Medical Scientist in Cork, Ireland.

The purpose of this role:
The Microbiology Laboratory examines a diverse range of specimens for bacterial, fungal, viral, and parasitic infections.
It includes the main bacteriology laboratory, a Serology laboratory, a full molecular suite, and a CL3 laboratory processing Enteric and Mycobacterium work.
The Laboratory is consultant-led and is part of the hospital's Infection Prevention and Control and Antimicrobial Stewardship Committees.
Requirements:
A postgraduate degree in Medical Laboratory Science.
Eligibility for Fellowship of The Academy of Clinical Science and Laboratory Medicine.
Registered Medical Scientist with CORU.
At least 4 years of post-qualification experience in a Medical Laboratory.
Excellent planning & organizational skills.
Salary from €67,000 to €86,000 per annum, based on experience.
Responsibilities:
Experience in Molecular diagnostics and Antimicrobial Susceptibility Testing.
Experience in test method verification and validation.
Responsible for all technical/scientific aspects of the Department's work.
Participate in ensuring the Quality Management System of the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine conforms to ISO standards for medical laboratories.
