The Role:
The Asset Management and Sustainability area is responsible for the development of asset policies, strategies and plans to determine the significant investment required into Ireland's infrastructure.
The area drives investment and the Sustainability and Innovation agenda for the organisation and leads on Environmental Regulation and Compliance activities, ensuring the quality of water and wastewater is continuously monitored.
The Asset Management function is responsible for strategic planning, prioritisation, and development of Uisce Éireann's Capital Works pipeline.
The function plays a key role in promoting collaboration and co-ordination of activities across the three asset functions as well as providing environmental assessment and management expertise across Uisce Éireann.
The Asset Intelligence team's purpose is to connect their customers with quality asset data to drive insights and support decision making.
The scope of the team's responsibility covers 4 main areas: Asset Data Insights and Stakeholder Management, Asset Data Management, Asset Data Governance and Special Projects.Reporting to the Asset Data Lead- Data Solutions, the Asset Data Analyst - GIS Architecturewill be responsible for the collection, processing and management of asset data within Uisce Éireann's asset management systems.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
Contribute to the collection, processing and management of asset data within Uisce Éireann's asset management systems,with a focus on automating and improving workflows using FME (Feature Manipulation Engine)
Document technical processes and FME workflows to ensure knowledge is captured, repeatable, and auditable for internal use and business continuity
Provide guidance on data model alignment, schema design, and validation rules implemented through FME
Manage a team of Asset Data Officers and Support staff, ensuring consistent delivery of data updates, QA, and stakeholder support
Provide guidance, mentoring, and training to team members on FME best practices, GIS tools, and data processing standards to build team capacity and reduce key-person risk
Ensure that the asset databases in the relevant systems are maintained and are fit for purpose
Carry out asset data quality assurance and updates in response to changes made or identified in the field
Develop new and improve existing processes with the business to ensure effective capture of asset data
Contribute to the setting of operational performance indicators relating to asset data
Ensure that processing and provision of asset information aligns with the needs of internal and external stakeholders, and is compliant with statutory and regulatory requirements
Ensure that any required reporting is complete, timely and accurate, and that content is appropriate to users' needs
Where appropriate, provide guidance and assistance relating to asset data management to other team members and colleagues
Assess integrity and completeness of all asset types such as -Sewers, Manholes, Watermains, Water Treatment Plants, Wastewater Treatment Plants, Customer Meters, Control Systems etc
Liaise with Asset Owners and Stewards in relation to issues concerning asset data quality and completeness based on intelligence gathered from both internal and external systems (e.g.
survey data)
Contribute to formulation and implementation of standards and best practices relating to asset information management and provision, in accordance with, and supportive of, regulatory requirements and company objectives.
Contribute to achieving the objectives and targets of the Asset Management Business plans
Raise risks and issues as appropriate to the relevant Asset Data Lead
Keep up to date with best practice
General Duties and Responsibilities
Collaborate with key internal stakeholders across the UÉ business.
Responsible for promoting and delivering health and safety commitments across UÉ and its supply chain, reinforcing positive behaviours and delivering health and safety objectives and requirements to the highest industry standards.
Support the delivery of the Uisce Éireann Transformation Programme, driving results required within the Directorate and supporting organisation-wide objectives.
Other duties as required.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
Relevant third-level qualification in GIS, Geography, Computer Science, Data Engineering, or related discipline
Expertise in FME (Feature Manipulation Engine) – demonstrated ability to design, optimise, and maintain FME workflows for enterprise data processing (FME certification desirable)
A minimum of 3 years' experience in GIS and spatial data processing roles, ideally within water, utilities, or infrastructure sectors
Experience managing a team, with strong people, change management and conflict resolution skills
Knowledge and/or experience of an Enterprise GIS System preferably ESRI ArcGIS, and/or ArcGIS Online
Database design and management experience preferably SQL Server
Ability to develop effective partnerships with a wide range of stakeholders and ability to look for and listen to diverse perspectives.
Strong analytical skills and ability to identify and analyse problems and make decisions that benefit the team/communities
Highly motivated individual, proven track record in identifying opportunities for process improvements and innovation
Proven track record in resolving complex issues, along with the ability to communicate information to others
Demonstrate adaptability and the ability to change focus and direction in line with business strategy and requirements
Excellent IT skills in particular Excel and Word
Experience in taking ownership of safety responsibilities and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives
Ability to make decisions based on the analysis of information within a fast-paced customer-focused environment.
