Overview
As the Director of Nursing, you will oversee the nursing department, providing strategic direction and managing day-to-day nursing operations.
You will lead and mentor a team of skilled professionals to ensure high-quality patient care, operational efficiency, and compliance with regulatory standards.
This leadership role is critical in shaping the future of our nursing services and fostering a culture of excellence.
Responsibilities
Oversee the nursing department, provide strategic direction, and manage day-to-day nursing operations.
Lead and mentor a team of skilled professionals to ensure high-quality patient care.
Ensure operational efficiency and compliance with regulatory standards.
Provide support, advice, and guidance to the Home by way of an on-call arrangement.
Co-manage and support all departments including nursing, household, maintenance, and catering staff.
Promote a culture of excellence and a collaborative team environment.
Requirements
Minimum 3 years of experience as a registered nurse in the last 6 years in care of the older person.
Currently registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI).
Post registration in management qualification (QQI Level 6 minimum).
Postgraduate diploma in Gerontology is desirable.
Working knowledge of HIQA standards, procedures, and guidelines.
Excellent leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
Sound decision-making ability and results-driven.
Good appreciation of finance issues.
Ability to motivate self and others and work on own initiative.
Ability to work well and promote a team environment.
