The Engineer will support Wendy's digital transformation by developing, testing, and refining prompt-based interactions across FreshAI applications, including chatbots, voice assistants, kiosks, and operational tools.
The role involves creating high-quality, user-aligned AI responses to enhance customer experience and operational efficiency.
You will collaborate with cross-functional teams and senior AI engineers to ensure the delivery of reliable, scalable, and ethical AI systems.
The ideal candidate is curious, linguistically sensitive, and technically proficient in prompt iteration and evaluation.
Responsibilities
Develop, test, and optimize prompts for AI models (e.g., GPT, LLaMA) for customer and operational use cases.
Evaluate AI outputs for quality, tone, bias, and accuracy.
Conduct experiments (A/B tests) and analyses to improve prompt design and model performance.
Collaborate with product managers, UX teams, and data scientists to align prompt behavior with user intent and business goals.
Help develop prompt engineering guidelines, reusable frameworks, and tools for scalability across Wendy's AI initiatives.
Support operational projects through planning, testing, and coordinating with cross-functional teams.
Stay updated on industry trends and recommend solutions to meet business needs.
Document best practices and frameworks for effective prompt engineering.

What we expect from you
BSc in data science, computer science, statistics, linguistics, AI, or related field.
At least 2 years of relevant experience in a commercial environment.
Experience in food service or related industry is preferred.
Strong project management skills, including managing long-term, multi-disciplinary projects.
Familiarity with programming languages like Python, JavaScript, or AI development tools.
Ability to mentor junior team members on technical skills and performance.
Effective communication of complex technical topics to non-technical team members.
Self-motivated with the ability to manage workload independently.
Experience with A/B testing, data analysis, and continuous optimization.
Proficiency with AI tools such as OpenAI's GPT, BERT, LLaMA, etc., and understanding of prompt design, language models, and conversational AI.
Knowledge of ethical AI practices, content moderation, and bias mitigation.
Background in linguistics or cognitive science is a plus.

The base pay range for this position is listed below.
The actual offer will consider internal equity, budget, candidate's experience, and other factors.
This range excludes benefits, bonuses, or incentives.
The target annual bonus is 7.5% of the base salary, based on performance.
