The Role The EHS Process Safety Engineer/Specialist will work closely with the EHS Safety Manager and other technical managers/engineers to drive improvements in existing EHS management systems, including compliance for the Cork site under the COMAH and Seveso regulations, as well as providing technical expertise as required.
Responsibilities include process safety, functional safety, process safety programs (HAZOPS, LOPA, etc.
), and process safety KPIs.
The EHS Process Safety Engineer/Specialist is responsible for activities and programs to ensure compliance with ATEX, High Risk Work programs, and local and Corporate EHS process safety requirements.
Support for DGSA site requirements will also be needed.
The role includes ensuring compliance with the site's ISO 45001 management system, including local and corporate EHS management programs.
The EHS Engineer/Specialist will lead and interact with regulatory bodies on compliance programs and future change requirements.
They will measure, monitor, and evaluate site health and safety performance, driving continuous improvement.
This role offers autonomy and ownership of assigned projects, areas, and programs, with support from an experienced EHS team.
Duties: Lead EHS assessment and approval of all process and equipment changes in line with Process Safety Protocols.Provide EHS support to ensure compliance with Lower Tier SEVESO and ATEX requirements.Interpret regulatory changes and guide site operations to ensure full compliance with legislation, IE Licensing, and ISO standards.Maintain relationships with the EHS team, operational managers, and functional managers to develop and implement EHS strategies.Serve as an EHS business partner for core operations.Support digitization programs for EHS systems, including high-risk work and chemical management.Collaborate with regulatory authorities, stakeholders, and management teams.Identify opportunities for proactive EHS culture improvements.Participate in site and EHS goals, sustainability, and corporate responsibility initiatives.Lead audits, inspections, and compile EHS metrics and KPIs for trending and reporting.Who You Are Essential: Degree/Diploma in Process Safety and recognized qualifications in H&S or engineering/science disciplines.Desirable: Experience with COMAH, chemical management, air quality programs, or ergonomic design principles.Minimum 7 years' experience in an EHS role.Experience managing infrastructural projects and regulatory interactions.Strong project and program management skills.Expertise in H&S legislation and best practices.Excellent communication, report writing, and independent working skills.Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines; flexible problem solver.Skills Thorough understanding of H&S guidance and directives in regulated industries.Ability to motivate and influence regulatory compliance efforts.Mature judgment and decision-making skills.Flexible, innovative, and team-oriented approach.High energy and passion for EHS.Desirable: Digital systems expertise.
