Overview
IT Test Analyst role working with a team of business analysts, developers, project managers, subject matter experts and product specialists based in New Ireland Assurance.
The primary responsibilities of the role include:
Defining the business problem, scoping the business solution and helping formulate business cases for IT steering;
Identifying options to address the business problem and helping the business critically assess those options, including understanding the impact of a proposed change on business processes, customers and on a commercial basis;
Developing good working relationships with all stakeholders, including senior business stakeholders, SMEs, development teams, project managers and relevant third-party suppliers.
Responsibilities
Create and execute test cases based on functional and non-functional specifications (reliability, efficiency, usability, maintainability, portability).
Establish traceability from test cases back to requirements; manage test scripts, materials and regression test packs for testing software or services.
Specify environment, data, resources and tools requirements; establish and evolve formal QA processes using industry best practices.
Oversee all aspects of QA, including metrics, practices, and tools to achieve quality goals; act as the key QA contact for releases and coordinate QA resources.
Interpret, execute and document complex test scripts; record and analyze actions/results; maintain a defect registry; review and adjust tests as needed.
Provide progress reports, risks and issues related to the project; offer specialist advice to support others.
Maintain understanding of the software development lifecycle and various methodologies/frameworks; work independently with minimal supervision and mentor others as needed.
Continuously improve QA practices; demonstrate curiosity to learn new systems and skills; maintain strong business acumen and customer focus.
Qualifications / Skills
3–5 years' experience as a Test Analyst for Business Systems development.
IT-related 3rd level qualification (e.g., computer science degree or similar).
Broad knowledge of Life and Pensions industry processes.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, written and verbal communication skills.
Strong ownership for accuracy and quality; ability to work to strict deadlines.
Formal Test or Quality methodology certification is desirable.
Experience delivering at least one project in the last four years involving Public Application, CRM or Cloud systems.
Ability to create test cases from technical analysis of requirements, and to manage traceability to requirements.
Experience producing test scripts, regression packs and QA artefacts; ability to specify environment/data/tools requirements.
Understanding of SDLC and software development methodologies; able to work independently and as part of a team.
Certifications in Agile, Product Management or Quality Assurance are desirable.
Sound knowledge of the financial services sector; ability to relate to the business community and translate requirements into technical solutions.
