What you'll do
As a Merchandiser at Primark, you play a critical role in the delivery of the product strategy in Primark.
In partnership with the Buying teams, you will be responsible for building and delivering your section strategy through strong commercial, analytical and influencing skills.
You will work in partnership with your Buying team and lead a team of Assistant and Trainee Merchandisers to manage the execution of this strategy through ensuring the right product is in the right place at the right time to maximise sales and profit performance.
While supporting Primark as a global brand, you will also understand our regional customers, and use data and analytics to tailor ranges which will deliver for the different customers in all our global markets.
You will maintain a keen awareness and understanding of current and evolving social and economic landscapes, with a focus on sustainability under Primark Cares as a key strategic pillar for the business.
As a Merchandiser, you will support the Head of Merchandising in continually seeking to identify new opportunities to enhance our value proposition, while supporting the departmental delivery of sales, markdown, stock turn and contribution budgets.

Commercial Awareness:
Maintain an extensive knowledge of the market to anticipate and quickly respond to factors such as competitor activity, socio-economic pressures in different regions, changing customer behaviours and price sensitivities.
Use your knowledge of the regional customer to tailor your ranges and exceed financial targets.
Strategy and Planning:
Build a commercial and strategic range which considers regional differences, and allows balance of newness, colour, price and product attributes, relevant to season and grades.
Responsible for driving and delivering strategy within your team, guiding and monitoring the delivery of strategic goals and measuring the delivery of goals using KPIs, sales, profit and market share increases.
Forecasting and Trading:
Work closely with the Head of Merchandising to agree all financial macro-targets.
Manage tools and reporting to review information and ensure that all aspects of strategic planning are met (including WSSIs, Line Projections, Option Planning and Budgeting).
Responsible for managing stock targets in line with depot/warehouse capacities.
Product Knowledge:
Develop a deep, broad knowledge of Primark product in multiple product areas.
Consider factors such as past products and competitor analysis when building ranges.

What you'll bring
Here are some of the experiences and skills you'll need for the role:
5 years' experience in a Merchandising role with at least 2 years in a people management/team lead position, or equivalent relevant experience.
Relevant qualification in a fashion-, retail- or commerce-related subject, or equivalent experience
You will be a skilled influencer, effective at managing a large network of stakeholders to reach effective commercial decisions.
Strong relationship builder with a proven record of managing stakeholders cross functionally.
Strategic thinker, with strong numerical and commercial acumen
Demonstrated experience in building and developing a high performing team
Excellent communication and engagement skills.
