OverviewPost Title:Staff Grade Occupational TherapistPost Status:To form a panel for upcoming temporay specified purpose contracts (with potential permanent contract pathway)Department:Department of Occupational TherapyLocation:Beaumont Hospital, Dublin 9Reports to:Occupational Therapy ManagerSalary:Appointment will be made on Staff Grade Occupational Therapist salary at a point in line with Government pay policy.(44,******,786 LSI)Hours of work:Full time 35 Hours per WeekClosing date for applications:5th of November ****Position SummaryThis Occupational Therapist position is a rotational post, delivering Occupational Therapy services to in-patients and out-patients attending the range of specialities in Beaumont Hospital.There is a strong ethos on developing high quality therapists with excellent clinical skills.Staff Grade rotations occur every 6 months with the following rotations available:Acute Medicine – MedicalAcute Medicine – Medical RehabilitationAcute Medicine – SurgicalEmergency Department: Frailty Intervention Therapy (FIT) TeamNeurosurgery and Critical CareIn-Patient Orthopaedics and VascularOut-Patient Hand TherapySpecialist Geriatric WardsSt Joseph's Rehabilitation UnitStrokeThe Occupational Therapist is accountable to the Occupational Therapy ManagerResponsibilitiesA. Clinical/ProfessionalTo deliver an Occupational Therapy service of the highest possible clinical standardTo be directly responsible for the Occupational Therapy assessment and treatment of patients on your caseloadTo liaise and communicate effectively with multi-disciplinary team membersTo maintain accurate records in line with best clinical governance, organisational requirements and the Freedom of Information ActTo be responsible for supervision of Occupational Therapy Assistants as requiredTo develop skills in the specified clinical area and act as a resource for other staff grade occupational therapistsTo support occupational therapy colleagues and to maintain / develop professional standards and good working practiceTo undertake and participate in clinical audit as requiredTo participate in research projects as requiredTo ensure positive representation of the Occupational Therapy Service at all timesTo develop protocols and clinical care pathways where appropriateTo be responsible for the direct supervision of Occupational Therapy Students or students of other disciplines assigned to the clinical area/department for trainingTo be responsible for daily administration duties and overall management of caseloadTo attend and participate in ward rounds / case conferences and / or team meetings as requiredTo assist with caseload for Occupational Therapy students as neededTo comply with all relevant statutory, local and hospital regulations and policies at all timesTo submit monthly patient statistics and other statistical information as required to the Occupational Therapy ManagerTo participate in relevant service planning activities to ensure, in consultation and agreement with the Occupational Therapy Manager, that the Occupational Therapy service provided is client-centred and meets patient needTo adhere to the Department's annual leave policyTo notify the Occupational Therapy Manager of sickness or annual leave in accordance with the hospital / Occupational Therapy Department policyTo deputise, where required, for Senior Occupational Therapy staff, undertaking specified duties in their absenceTo participate in the management of occupational therapy stock and equipmentTo engage in IT developments as requiredTo keep up to date with developments within the organisation and the Irish Health ServiceTo promote good team working and a culture that values diversityTo maintain such records and prepare such reports as may be required by the Occupational Therapy ManagerB. Education and TrainingTo participate in mandatory training programmesTo participate in all activities included in the Department's continuing professional development framework e.g. personal study, in-service training, attending and presenting at conferences / courses relevant to practice, contributing to research etc. as agreed by the Occupational Therapy ManagerTo keep abreast of current developments and their implications for clinical practiceTo participate in professional supervision, individual feedback meetings and any other review meetings required as part of the department's performance management frameworkTo participate in and play a key role in the practice education of student therapistsTo engage in teaching / training / supervision of other Occupational Therapy and non-Occupational Therapy staff / students and attend practice educator courses as appropriateTo maintain an environment conducive to learningTo promote and engage in inter-disciplinary learning opportunitiesC.
