Sous Chef - Job Role in a Hotel Position Title: Sous Chef Department: Food and Beverage / Kitchen Reports To: Executive Chef Key Responsibilities: Food Preparation & Cooking: Oversee daily food preparation and ensure dishes are cooked to the highest quality.

Supervise and assist line cooks and other kitchen staff during service.

Maintain consistency in taste, presentation, and portioning.

Team Leadership: Manage kitchen staff schedules and delegate tasks.

Train and mentor junior chefs and kitchen team members.

Step in for the Executive Chef in their absence.

Kitchen Operations: Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.

Oversee cleanliness, hygiene, and organization of kitchen areas.

Monitor inventory levels and assist with ordering supplies.

Menu Development: Collaborate with the Executive Chef on menu planning, specials, and seasonal dishes.

Suggest new ideas for dishes and presentation.

Cost Control: Assist in controlling food costs and minimizing waste.

Monitor portion control and help maintain food cost targets.

?? Skills & Qualifications: Culinary degree or diploma (preferred).

Proven experience in a similar role (typically 3+ years).

Strong leadership and communication skills.
