About the Role

As a Social Care Worker at Harmony Care, you will be at the heart of creating positive outcomes for children and young people in care. You will provide direct care, support their emotional and developmental needs, and help implement individual Care Plans and Placement Plans.

Principal ResponsibilitiesPolicies and Procedures

Adhere to all organisational policies and procedures. Maintain a strong understanding of the Safety Statement and associated Health and Safety Risk Assessments. Ensure the Health and Safety of young people, team members, and visitors through thorough oversight of the premises. Report any health and safety concerns immediately to the Health and Safety Rep or Centre Manager.

Care of the Children/Young Adults

Build therapeutic, professional, and caring relationships with children in your care. Ensure that children's physical, psychological, social, and emotional needs are met in accordance with the Child Care Act, 1991. Facilitate family time and support education, training, and employment in line with each child's Care Plan. Promote the holistic needs of children, including their social, recreational, medical, dietary, and religious requirements. Enable and encourage children to participate in decisions affecting their lives.

Teamwork and Professional Engagement

Fulfill specific duties assigned by management, such as keyworker or health and safety representative roles. Attend team meetings and professional training sessions. Foster collaborative working relationships with external professionals and agencies. Support the Centre during inspections and audits.

Professional Development

Maintain effective self-care practices and encourage the same among colleagues. Engage in ongoing training opportunities provided by the Organisation. Take responsibility for your personal training and development plan.

Safeguarding

Fulfill duties as a mandated person and report child protection concerns to Tusla immediately. Notify the Designated Liaison Person (DLP) of any safeguarding concerns. Maintain a thorough understanding of the Organisation's Child Safeguarding Statement and associated risk management plans.

Criteria

Experience working with children or young people desirable Full driving license desirable Qualifications: QQI Level 8 in Social Care QQI Level 7 in Social Care QQI Level 8 in Psychology QQI Level 7 or Professional Practice Qualification in Child & Adolescent Psychotherapy QQI Level 7 or Professional Practice Qualification in Counselling / Psychotherapy QQI Level 7 or Professional Practice Qualification in Addiction Counselling QQI Level 7 in Youth and Community or similar QQI Level 7 in Social Science / Social Studies QQI Level 7 in Family Support Professional Qualification in Teaching (Not TEFL) Professional Qualification in Nursing Studies QQI Level 7 in Disability Studies QQI Level 7 in Applied Behavioural Analysis QQI Level 7 in Early Years Care where centre caters for children under 12 years BA in Applied Policing or equivalent Holder of Higher Certificate in Custodial Care (Irish Prison Service) or equivalent No qualification or non-relevant qualification but holder of CORU registration as a Social Care worker Students in year 4 of a level 8 programme leading to a recognised social care qualification where they have successfully completed the 3rd year of their programme and hold an equivalent social care / pedagogy qualification from another
