Responsibilities
  • Proven experience in the design and development of high-precision automated electro-mechanical systems.
  • Integration of electromechanical sub-assemblies into complex systems which may include fluidics, optics, sensing, electronics and software elements.
  • Experienced CAD designer who has good product lifecycle management (PLM) knowledge.
  • Deliver technical solutions to enhance product reliability and process capability.
  • Apply LEAN/Six Sigma practices to develop reliable robust designs (DOE, DFSS, Reliability testing).
  • Develop and translate system requirements into robust design solutions with accompanying detailed design functional specifications.
  • Practical experience of supplier or manufacturing fabrication processes (e.g. moulding, machining, casting, coating).
  • Knowledge of material properties to support design choices.
  • Provide technical support across the full engineering value chain to avoid outages within the integrated manufacturing network (Supplier to Customer).
  • Control systems engineering knowledge (tuning motors, PID control, etc.).
  • Experience of the Machinery Directive, CE Marking and other relevant safety standards.
  • Verification and Validation experience.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree or higher (Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Automation) or equivalent with a minimum of 8 years relevant experience. Alternative degrees considered with balanced relevant technical experience.
  • Strong ability to work in a fast-paced environment, collaborate with key stakeholders, and deliver solutions from concept to implementation at pace.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Experience in coaching and mentoring team members and in an effective team player mindset.
  • Readiness to take ownership and accountability for solutions from concept to implementation.
  • Knowledge of GD&T and applicable standards.
  • Experience with supplier or manufacturing processes and understanding of material properties to inform design choices.
  • Understanding of safety and regulatory standards relevant to mechanical/electrical systems.
