Senior Occupational Therapist

The Senior Occupational Therapist will provide high-quality, patient-centred care within the acute hospital setting. The successful candidate will be responsible for the assessment, planning, and delivery of Occupational Therapy services to patients in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, contributing to early discharge planning and multidisciplinary team collaboration. This role is based in Drogheda, Co Louth

Responsibilities of Senior Occupational Therapist

  • Deliver Occupational Therapy assessment and interventions to patients across medical, surgical, orthopaedic, and stroke units.
  • Provide clinical leadership to junior therapists and students.
  • Collaborate closely with the multidisciplinary team (MDT) for patient-centred care planning.
  • Lead and participate in service development, audits, and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Contribute to discharge planning processes ensuring timely and safe transitions of care.
  • Maintain accurate and timely clinical records and documentation in accordance with HSE and CORU guidelines.
  • Support and supervise staff grade therapists and students on placement.
  • Engage in continuous professional development and attend relevant training and education sessions.

Requirements of Senior Occupational Therapist

  • Hold aBSc/MSc in Occupational Therapyor equivalent qualification recognized byCORU.
  • BeCORU-registeredand eligible to work in Ireland.
  • Minimum of3 years post-qualification experience, with at least 1 year in an acute hospital or similar setting.
  • Proven clinical expertise in acute care, discharge planning, and MDT working.
  • Excellent communication, organisational, and time management skills
