The Role: We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Hotel Operations Manager. The Operations Manager should have a full-hands-on approach to operations and be visible and active in all departments, especially Food & Beverage (Brasserie/Bar/Abbey Restaurant/Functions).
We believe that food and beverage operations are the heartbeat of our hotels; therefore, the Operations Manager should be highly involved in setting and maintaining the expected level of service and quality through leading from the front and setting the example.
Reporting ToThe Operations Manager will report directly to The General Manager and Group General Manager. You will work closely with the General Manager to ensure seamless operation and alignment with the overall goals and standards of The Lough Rea Hotel & Spa.
The PersonWe are seeking an Operations Manager with a demonstrated history of success in Food & Beverage Management, with excellent people skills, suited to a country hotel and local business and community engagement.
Must be customer-focused, hands-on, with excellent communication skills, while motivating the team to deliver the best possible outcomes for the guest and the business. Flexibility to work weekends, professional appearance and presentation, and the ability to devise solutions are required. Candidate must have 3+ years F&B Manager experience.
The HotelLough Rea Hotel and Spa is one of the most highly recommended and well-known venues in Galway, situated just outside the town of Loughrea overlooking Loughrea Lake. Guests can enjoy the Rooftop Garden Bar and Sky Lounge, with panoramic views of Loughrea Lake and the Galway countryside. The hotel offers 92 bedrooms, Shore Island Spa, ample free on-site parking, Lir Bar & Brasserie, Abbey Restaurant, a large conference suite and 5 breakout rooms for conferences up to 500 people. It is one of six properties within the S Hotel Group, with significant progression and development opportunities for ambitious hospitality professionals.
Key Responsibilities Include- Fully responsible for overseeing all aspects of all departments with a particular focus on F&B-related areas as a priority at all times.
- Support and collaborate with all Heads of Department in all aspects of running the hotel.
- Install and follow efficient work methods and systems; identify and agree schedules that facilitate high staff productivity.
- Review staff rotas to ensure adequate cover in the most cost-effective manner.
- Ensure kitchens and premises meet the standards of EHO/HSA/WRC and other government bodies, along with internal auditors and guests.
- Keep the premises in a presentable condition at all times, on duty or off.
- Conduct regular operations team meetings with all HODs to discuss operational matters, sales targets, costings, guest and staff feedback, and issues.
- Identify and implement SOPs in all departments and monitor their application during routine checks.
- Monitor purchases, control POs, and communicate with GM and Hotel Manager regarding purchases.
- Ensure cash handling procedures are compliant and practical to reduce errors and theft.
- Compile weekly/monthly financial reports detailing revenue, covers and staff productivity by department.
- Control stock of Food and Beverage; drive for results and high standards.
- Conduct random inspections of stores (F&B/Kitchen) to check stock levels, expiry dates, and quality with the F&B Manager & Chef.
- Engage with suppliers/vendors for quality products in coordination with Purchase Manager.
- Inspect all departments with managers for cleanliness, ambience, service readiness, staff grooming, and hospitality culture.
- Work with Sales & Events Manager to prepare a sales plan for F&B and C&B outlets, focusing on the local market.
- Plan for future business and make sound decisions.
- Maintain Health & Safety as a priority, training staff to prevent accidents and claims.
- Assess and review customer satisfaction and the service recovery process.
- Identify staff development needs and provide timely feedback.
- Monitor and manage operation and overhead costs to maximise revenue.
- Any other duties assigned.
